i just picked up a 58 caddy with the 365 and auto.trans.problem is the dumbass i bought it from took the whole car apart and gave up on it.does anyone know what other engines will fit into this car using the stock trans.radiator,etc.also he put air bags on it but never finished changing to disc brakes up front, all i have is spindles, rotors and bearings.any help would be great.the 365 engine is o k but would like to get more power and to rebuild the original is 3000 give or take a few bucks.and for that kind of money im thinking about buying a later year caddy with a 501 or 429 and sticking that in the 58.

the only other motor that will bolt on to your hydramatic is the 390 cadillac 59-63. 63 is an odd ball motor, transition between the rear dist. 390's and the 429.

your disk brake question is kinda hard. you need to find out what "kit" he used. id guess probly a 82-90 s-10 caliper may fit, but who knows!

Unless you stumble over a freshly rebuilt 429, 472 or 500 for free, you'll spend 3K rebuilding any of them. I'd use the original since you have it, and forget all the fabrication and hassle.
