Projects 59 Chevy wagon..Fix it up part it out or forget about it??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by oldfart, Oct 22, 2011.

  1. SOLD----SOLD----SOLD

I have a chance to buy a 1959 Chevy four door wagon that came from Colorado 7 years ago.The fenders, doors, rockers, roof are virtually rust free. There is rust through in the D/S front floor and a couple of inches of the rear p***sengers side drip rail.
No motor or transmission,No windshield,No power steering or power brakes, good front seat, springs only for the back seat. Good tailgate with the upper gl***,good window gl***
If I buy it,I am torn between parting it out(The easy way to go) or keep it as another project .Due to my piss poor health I have a hard time working on the Sedan Delivery that I have now..
I know that there are a lot of longroof lovers here so I guess my question is..Are the 59 wagons scarce enough that someone would buy the rust free parts then pay shipping from Florida??
Is a rust free 59 wagon in this condition worth $1500?
The wagon in the picture is NOT the one that I looked at..(Didn,t have my camera with me).The one I looked at is in better shape.

sell it off complete, to somebody that will build it, as a wagon she will go fast...

unless you want to sit on it until you feel better...

    don't part it, please.

Sorry about the health issue you will be in my prayers.
As far as the car is concerned, if you think you can flip it for some extra cash that would be the way to go.

  7. I can tell ya those wagons get under an 'anti-wagon' mans skin, if they are parked outside. We have 2-3 of the '60 version here. I like 'em now! The '60s here were intended as parts cars for a sedan delivery. But that won't happen now, the wagons are just too cool.

if it is better than the one in the picture it is too nice to part, you should see what condition some 59 wagons are in that some folks IN MN try to save...

I agree, the 59 wagon's are scarce enough that if it is complete and in good shape, it will sell quickly whole. If it is truly mostly rust free then it is really scarce and $1500 is a good price. 59's rust everywhere on the bottom 1/2.

If it is reasonably solid, get it at $1500. Please don't part it out. Someone (how about me?) will take it off your hands and have some fun with it.

    I'm ready to build another.

Don't part it out. That's just what the government wants you to do. I'll buy it and haul it to Connecticut.
