Not sure if there's any difference between '59 &, say, a '70 starter, but the SB & BB starters for the 70s interchange with the SB one being a little shorter. I use a BB starter on my SB 727/ 331 combo.

I believe the issue is that the Torque converter has the gears on it. I had to use my 413 crank and a 440 block to bolt up to that converter so I can use my transmission it's the pushbutton torque flight or something

[IMG]. It looks like it's the same transmission from the things I'm seeing online. I'm going to jump on the forward look when I get home and see if anyone has replied and thank you all very much for the info it's keeping me positive about the car and it's hard to keep going when there are these confusing issues and with all the money I have into a 4 door haha but it will get there

Sanderson has a reputation for headers not always being 'perfect' and some that need some work on a particular application. It may be that you will need to modify what they send to you. Ask Herman what he did.

Yeah I had a set of the block huggers that didn't fit and they gave me crap about returning them and I sent him a message and a comment on the post. Nothing back yet

Good new so far the steering box should be here tomorrow and the rear quarter on the driver side is almost done we were able to cut out and salvage some of the patches and work with what is there... We had to heat and push out the dent's and cool them because the whole rear was weak from all the warping but so far so good should have pics tomorrow but in the bad new I can't find a mini starter to use the headers I want so my opinions are some stock manifolds and drill the head and tap it to mount my alternator or???? Still looking for other options

    1. You are knee deep in sheetmetal repair. Why are you reluctant to modify the headers?

    2. ...probably easier to replace the heads with post-62 pieces.

That's true and I already cut up a pair of headman full size headers and still couldn't get them to work I guess I could buy the cheaper versions of the shorty ones and try to make it work but there is not much room to work with how the starter and steering box is set up and I can do sheet metal i just don't feel as confident with making exhaust... I even thought about trying to find a place that can make me some but can't seem to find anything close

Well I have been working on the lead work on the 52 but I decided to round the hood corners of the 59 so I started by cutting along the outside edge and then cut from the back side middle to the cut I run along side the out side of the hood ...then took a hammer and dolly and boom done just gotta weld it up and grind it smooth

[IMG]this was under one of the half ass patched that we put right over the bad metal not even any effort to cut out the old [IMG]i could t get a good picture because of where I set my hood but it's slowly getting there and I fixed a lot of the issues with the shitty patch work but still a lot more to go [IMG]welded up and ground done the corners of the hood and just put some spray can paint on it to avoid rust

I need a center dump for the drivers side and passengers side has all the room in the world [IMG][IMG]

    Update
Car runs and drives and stops good finally!! Still got a few things to work out but new headers after modifications work great and we figured out all the wiring ...divers side rear quarter is fixed and body work started and oh man do I hate these huge straight quarts and so do my arms haha ... had to take the neutral safety switch out and line of the linkage centered while in button was in neutral...worked great! But remember to drain the fluid haha ...brakes now that's a story.. the whole time I thought there was air in the system and after putting in a residual valve and nothing changed I found out the pedal ratio was off by ...a lot haha so I changed that and adjusted the pedal and the adjustment between the master and booster and now they are almost perfect just some more tweaking to do and have to replace my cap because it won't seal and I'm done messing with it ...passenger side quarter is almost done with hammering then body work on that side ...I'm thinking about doing something custom for rear and front bumper so that's next after I get her on the road and some things worked out

  24. Good work sir . I love everything about the vehicle ( hey, what's not to love?) . The bodywork is outstanding and well, the stance is just right. Once again, good work.

Just found this thread and read the whole thing, lots of cool work going on and the car is looking great!
Was interested to see the stepped lower arms as I'm in the middle of doing something similar with my '62 Imperial, although I'm keeping the torsion bars. Despite the Imperial having a full frame and the Chryslers being unibody it looks like the front suspension is very similar so I'm wondering if the Hedman shortys may fit with a bit of work - does anyone know the distance between the torsion bars on the Chryslers so I can check if the Imperial is the same?

Thanks. Man it’s been a challenge but a good learning experience...the 52 im building the wife is coming out nice also but I got through a lot of the mistake making with the 59 haha so the 52 seems like a simple thing

I’ll try to get pics soon an post it and unfortunately don’t know the measurements but I believe chrysler and imperial shared frames for most years
