Hey Guys, I'm considering a 59 coronet for a complete restoration project does anybody know if there is any body parts available or where a good place to look would be, are these a rare car ? Looks like a lot of work but would be a killer car done, Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks
Patch panels are available for a lot of old cars, but complete items like doors and fenders... no. Bumpers and trim, also a no-go new. Maybe some emblems are re-popped. I have a '59 Ford and constantly scour various sources for good used or NOS parts.
As the owner of two forward look mopars, a 59 custom Royal and a 59 regent I can tell you parts are not common or cheap. But the cars are unique if you can see it through. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Oh and your biggest challenge in most will be the rust, they are prone to rusting in places you wouldn't think a car could rust, so look it over carefully so you don't have any suprises later Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
1959 was an odd year for cars. Many items were a 1-year-only issue. My Ford is one of those and some parts are tough to come up with. My best advice, if something comes up and you can afford it, grab it.
just make sure all the parts are present especially trim part, some of the patches can be had from similar year Ply-do models. Big M is a great help for getting patch panels from some of his parts cars.
