    I like it

  4. looking at the frt fenders, I think they are chevy still?! The quarter and door mldgs are 55 chevy Bel Air (4dr door spears, or they might be Bel Air H.T.) Cool, either way..

the quarter moulding is 55 chevy 2 door and the door is 55 chevy 4 door.
I thought of this as an alternative to stock big money trim.

Jay, I'm really not a fan of the Impala trim you're wanting to use, that's why so many Impalas had doubled up front fender trims on the rear quarters back in the day. The Impala trim fattens and shortens the car, it's just too much, the stock is so elegant yet damn hard to find.
The 55 Chevy trim on the Ponchamino looks great and it's everywhere.

  8. It's going off white, so a little squish and pinch - wouldn't be such a bad thing. Grin!

Dont know how to post the video in a player, but here's a link to the
video of the t/lite, opening and closing.. I still smile when I watch it.

Here's an idea of how much wider the 59 is, than the 58..

  11. Yeah, a little faster than I'd like.. If I slow it down, I'm afraid it won't have as much torque. It's clunky right now, since I don't have the outer pivot under control. Still need to fab up the spring system!

If you get someone standing in the right (wrong??) place & you activate that thing, a fella could be in pain. How would you explain getting hit in the boys with a powered taillight without getting laughed at??

Looks good though. when you get the spring worked out post another vid of it in action with the lens & bezel in place please.

I think I may have found the impala door trim you are after. I will try to take some pics of it later this week.

Do I remember right that you are using wide Impala trim on your elky?? You posted in another thread that you had extra moldings - would that be the quarter spear? I have one & need another. I also have the front two sections of both sides of the wide impala trim that I am not going to use if you needed any spares.

  14. Yes, I have one long elky/2dr wgn mldg. Problem is, truthfully I don't know which side it is. I had it straightened(which means another polisher usually won't touch it)and it is driver quality. Not show! So consider the option.. it aint going anywhere. If I can find another, I will keep it. I plan on building another Elky(but with a custom idea, that's never been completed succesfully) in the future..

  15. I dream of working inside, in a climate controlled building I can call my very own. I would definitely become a work-a-holic.. A Hot Rod Hermit, if you will! I was just thinking, I must come off as a loser to some, posting my daily doings. But who is the bigger loser, me for posting.. or the looky loo's for lookin'?! (I think too much)

Whoa, that thing could take an eye out, I'm impressed, it'll knock people's socks off at the gas station.
I had to put gas in mine the other day to move it, it had all evaporated. The filler works well, it doesn't back up at all, I've gotta put a vent hose on it, the garage is stanked up with gas fumes.

  17. Yeah, I love conversing with the vagrants at the local filling station. Just what I need!

I stripped the fins down, yesterday evening. Elevan dents in total!

Spent the morning with paper towels, a wire brush & blue lightening rust remover.

Then I scrubbed it with a scotch brite pad & the hose. Amazing how fast it rust, right it front of my eyes..

Then with a single swipe, of the metal prep surfacer.. The rust is gone! It works better than some 'Coked out Billy Mays info-mmercial'

Have to wait an hour, before I can add filler or primer. The phospherous coating needs time to dry.

Great, thanks. I've been doing some experimenting and, now that I've heard of the company/products, I'd like to give them a try.

  21. Glad to help. I use a Viva papertowels on the heavy rust. Soak the towel that's laid out flat over the area you're working on. It keeps the fluid where you want it. So it soak in. Then I use a clean wire brush, to get in the cavities

  23. Sank Ewe, Berry Mush!

  24. Laid down the everglass filler over the welds and then took it down.
I just noticed, it says Kevlar is an ingredient. Wow, whatever..

Then I used some Rage after..

I'm gonna have a lot of hours ahead of me.. sanding these mile long quarters(hahaha)

Tomorrow is another day.. I will have a better idea where I'm at, after I block it in the morning. I feel safe, knowing the filler is at a minimum & the rust is gone. This thing will sit outside when it's done, with a car cover on it. So the paint will have a fighting chance, to stand up against this, So Cal sun!

Ahhh man I thought I was gonna get my fix today.....

  28. Thanks guys.. I took the wknd off. Been blocking the fuck out the qtr panel, this morning. I haven't done this in 13 yrs. Sanding in the summer, isn't much of a pleasure. I remember stripping my Aunts T Bird, when I was still in High School. She definitely got the better end of that deal on that one, for sure. You have a lot of time to think to about shit(That I wish I could forget) when you're working by yourself. The Ipod is my only friend!
