Are you ok Jay? Two days with no posts have me worried about you.
I took my El Camino to the trim shop to get the interior re-done.
    Take care.....Mike

  2. Hey Mike, I'm good. It's just the same ol' repetitive thing.(In my best TV announcer voice-over) This weeks back to back, marathon of episodes 'Block, Spray, Flash & Repeat'! They ain't much to look at. I have also been shrinking the door. There was a dent somebody filled with bondo, since there was no room to hammer and dolly it out. So I shrunk some & used the spot welder to pull out the rest w/ the dent puller.

My t/gate hinge bottoms, should be done here pretty soon. That's the word anyway!

  3. I went and looked at this 'Rust Repellant' Fiberglass '26T Roadster Body, earlier today. With my ugly mug sitting where I was, my feet didn't even reach the firewall. An I'm 6'2". I don't think I look too much like an oil derrick, sticking out of this thing. I plan on picking this up on Wednesday! One more piece for the LSR puzzle!

I have an idea I'd like to try, for a straight tube axle 'over' the frame. NOTHING like that weird underslung stuff. Tranverse spring, raised perch w/ wishbones. There's actually no radiator core, so the axle is thru the radiator grille. 16" or bigger wheels, will keep the frame up in the front.. Things change in the real world!

Suspension travel = Spin Outs.. So that's not an issue
The rearend is to be bolted directly to the frame. Almost like an upside down 'C' notch in the 32BB frame.

This is how heavy the Model BB Frame was.. The frame owners SuperDuty had a boom lift on it. Made it a lot easier loading it, in the back of Erics truck.

Here's some pics of the frame in it's original glory!

I've done stupidier things than this. I need a Super T10, now. And..

  4. Damn, I have to run the T's rear fender in C/STR. T' fenders are probably, my least favorite of the bunch. That sucks!

I don't dream, but I have thoughts in my sleep about sanding. They've woke me, one too many times. To top it off, I've been using my Dads old DeVilbiss gun to spray primer. It's wore out, or needs to be torn apart and cleaned. I broke down and pulled out the new HF spray gun. Sad, when that's an improvement..

Jay, your 1/4 panels are looking great.......Keep on plugging away..Mike

  6. Tomorrow I'm going to pay for the material, so I can get the hinge bottoms done an out of the way. Then I can finish the bodywork out back, make everything friendly together. One thing leads to another. That's why it seems like it will never end...

  7. Last night, on my way back from picking up my Roadster body.. I seen this 60 work truck 'very much' in use!

    I'm stoked, my first Roadster.

Do not adjust your dial, the pic isn't upside down.. it's just the only way it will fit in the rafters. Six bungee straps holding it up. Totally out of the way an outta sight!

I've heard of incomplete $60k LSR- STR builds, for 30k. I've seen a 20k chassis? I've been told I won't be competitve with my engine. An it's true. I have a lot of resources, thought.. and not a lot of ego. In hind sight, I could've spent a little more and had a nascar engine. Doing all the work myself(besides the rollcage) the engine is going to be the biggest number ticket!

Now I'm going back to blocking!

 Flipping the body over isn't that hard to do, it's flipping the garage that would have made the picture more interesting. You would have had a mili second to take the pic before everything fell of the walls and floor :D.

  9. Just a click & flip my friend, hahaha.. no fuss or muss!

  17. weather has been overcast, like it's going to rain. It's been this way for two weeks now. Reminds me of Washington State! It's either hot or cold here. Just right is so hard to come across where I live.

One out of the six steel wheels I have, is a 14x5. I was reading another thread that mentioned some were 14x5's, some were 14x6's.

  20. The only way these hinges could be any cooler, to me.. Is if they were extruded from iron. Ordered the bushings and all the other hardware form 'em.

It's almost a shame to paint these things. I am undecided. I will have to anodize them clear, if I don't paint them. They charge per crate load, to anodize stuff. Whatever I can fit in the container, is still the same price as one piece. I have all my AN fittings for the roadsters fuel system, that I removed all the red & blue(cos' I can't stand that look) They need to be re-anodized, so that works out good!

I agree. It would be a shame to cover those beauties with paint....

  27. I will have to sand and polish the tool marks out of them. Which won't be hard, since Erics finishing cut is nice to start with. We contemplated making them with steel, but it would have taken too long. Being white, I don't think the hinges will stand out to much. Hope not anyway!i don't want them to look like a cheap add on, or someone who doesn't know when to stop chroming shit.. Decisions

Jay, Maybe just go ahead and paint them. Only us guys with El Caminos know they should be steel anyway. Most people would think they're stock aluminum............Mike

  29. painted it is.. The car attracts enough attention on it's own.
