    its comming along nicely jay

  2. I've had to go over every part of this thing, whether it was repairing the damage or customizing the ugly.. I had to do it all! An I'm far from done. I will be able to put in looonngg hours being able to work at night, doing the upholstery. Being that I will be in the garage. That's what I consider, 'the down hill slide'. Just wish dad was here to guide me through all the questions I'm going to have. But I'm just gonna have to do it, to it!

  3. I have tooooooooooo many hours in the lower valances. They weren't no cherries! That's for sure! Thanks, Woodpecker!

  5. A play on the Impala style interior. A 4dr Impala as a matter of fact. Post # 43 shows the material and colors

Let me, Let me, Jay!!!! Please please :D. Copper plating will, and since it goes down first before chrome, it's a no and yes answer.

  8. I had to look at what you were referring to and the lower valance does resemble the bumper.

Is this a trick question? Yes to the no

I was thinking I should make some bumper gaurds. I think they would look better, out farther where the bumper bolts are. It would cover the bumper inner bracket, also. Yep, more effin' work

Are ya blending the bumper bolt heads into the bumper? Seems like a nice custom touch for a mild custom like yours.

I really like Impala upholstery and since I read #43 soooo long ago I had forgotten you mentioned it.

  12. I don't mind the bumper bolts. They don't bother me on the 59's

The nose is looking so much cleaner. Loving the progress.

  14. I'm not used to it, I think some bumper guards would look good, where the bumper bolt & the bracket are.

    Looks beautiful, super clean.

  16. My Dad used to have a 2dr 59 Biscayne.. which I've never actually seen. But he would mention that he had done what I just did. So I've always had this in the back of my mind. On a tri-5 you weld the lic plt brkt holes closed, and re chrome it.. Alot easier than all of 'this' extra work. Thanks though!

I gotta question, I have a one piece California bumper on my Elky, the support had been sliced in two right in the middle. I welded it back together with the bumper still on it then the bumper wouldn't come off, I had to reslice it to get it off. This can't be right, what is going on?

  19. I pulled mine out also, which isn't fun. I didn't want to deal with it again so I cut mine in the middle after I made two plates to sandwich the support once I rechrome it. The guy I bought my elco from won't even use a cali one pc bumper.

I've built a couple of those.....I always thought it a shame to chop up a perfectly good car to make a couch! Its whatever it takes to pay the bills though!

  28. It was a 4 door HT my Dad cut the roof off of and fit 2dr doors to it. 4dr wagons are cool, but I'm not a fan of 4dr sedans.. H.Ts!

This rr bumper section, needed some work. That unexpected kind that seems to take up too much time. I exaggerated how much I cut down for the picture

I did this yesterday.. did a lot of finish work today

Then I filled in the license plate lite area

    Welded thee bottom side, too!

Then I ground in a line to follow with the torch when I cut it. These are the bumper mounting brackets.

    Finishing the center section

    Tail lights anyone?

Bumper mounting brackets installed (Pain in the ass by myself)

Tomorrow I'm off to the chrome shop
