  5. It'd it though! San Bernardino history.

Finally getting some paint on the fenders.
Shortened the filler tube, and figuring out the coil bracket, how to easier fasten it down.

Yes I know, but you had the end off and an old one could have taken it's place ;) :)

  9. You're right. I have no excuse. I'm sure there's an old one around here, too. I didn't think about it, either. Thanks Gee!

  11. This thing kicks my ass, there's no more fight left in me. Haha

  12. I'll start blocking the hood on Tuesday. Then get to putting the front end, back together. I'm going to need help getting the hood on, that's a given.

Dang Jay. I get distracted for a bit by other things and you off and put your Elky back together! :)

  16. I'm happy with the fenders. But I blocked out the hood, again yesterday. Cut down a different dipstick and tube, an installed it. Hooked up the throttle valve cable, yesterday also. I'm trying

  17. I have things I want to fix on the rr qtr panels also. Things I'm not happy with, now that they're shiny

    Attached Files:

  18. Primered after blocking it out, a couple more times. Paint in the morning

  19. Hopefully the wind will subside, in the morning, so I can get paint on the hood. Strong Santa Ana winds all day, today. I revised the coil bracket, earlier. The first version, didn't allow for easy wrenching. Happy now

    "Here's a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
    Don't worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
    Don't worry, be happy

Ooh, ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh oo-ooh ooh ooh oo-ooh

  21. Yeah, I had that coming!

  22. Besides plucking all the bugs out, that couldn't resist landing in their version of a beautiful white Brea tar pits, I can't complain.

the hood turned out awesome jay , I cant wait to see it come together , , btw , I know the feeling all to well with the bugs and paint lol

  24. Yep, I'm used to the winged intruders. Be weird not having to deal with 'em. Someday I'll have a booth! Thanks Cody, your wagon is amazing.

  25. A trip over to Scotty's Muffler, revealed a new problem. It was pointed out to me, the ports on the one exhaust manifold, are quite thin towards the top. They could leak. I can't imagine welding the inside, would be a good idea. Welding the outside, would be unsightly. Hopefully the surface is well enough with the new gaskets. We'll see what happens.

Jay, it's clear as day that the manifold has a core shift problem. Up to high. Just cast weld inside on the upper half then get out the die grinder and port that baby. You can do it Bud, your good at what you do and understand alot more than most others. I mean come on, that manifold doesn't have a brain. So it can't fight you back. Only you fight yourself.

  27. It was ported out. I wouldn't mind having it welded, if it would still have integrity.

Oh!, can't really tell by the photo but know that explains why the hard bevel above. Over porting heads into water jacket's, now that's a serious F*** Up I've seen. Way more money in the trash than manifolds.

  29. This manifold had been in with the pile of others, for as long as I can remember. Now I know why. I bought a Speedway manifold to match, since this has the 2.5" flange. I got a guy, that can weld cast iron. I'll have to go pay him a visit.

I ruined a pair of camel hump heads, by soaking them in vinegar and molasses, for too long. Live and learn$$
