Been reading here on and off for a while. Figured I'd post some pics of my project. It's a '59 F250 with '59 F350 dually running gear. Has a LONG way to go but it's getting there. I'm from Vashon Island, WA but living in Havre, MT right now.
Greetings from Durango, Colorado. I have a F350 with the same gears. What did you do for the overdrive?
I took an NP205 divorced Tcase and mounted it backwards. When in direct, it will pull an oil tanker and when you put it into low range(now high range since it's backwards) it doubles the gears. I removed the front wheel drive gears which quieted it down. It works pretty well for what it is but the high range is a little too high. Eventually I'd like to have a Clark 280VO(5spd overdrive) and then a ****er 5831 3spd aux box(under, direct, OD) in place of the NP205. That setup should be about perfect I just haven't been able to find them yet.
That is what I expected. Taking the extra gears out was a good idea but does it still oil ok? Did you look to see if gears are avaliable for that rear end?
