i was looking in a catalog trying to find a new clutch for my 59 ford. apparently there are 2 different splined clutch disks:confused:. my question is : what spline would i have on my car. its a 59 ford custom 300 with a six and a 3spd stick, all stock. Ive got to kick myself in the *** because i had the ****** out a while ago to rebuild it but never took down a spline count on the input shaft:(. Any Ford gurus out there that might know this? any help is much appreciated.

It could have either one. According to the vin on my 57 Ford it came with a 6cyl. When I got it, it had a y-block in it but I think it still had the orignal trans. When I pulled it out to install a T5 trans I was surprised to see a 10in. fine spline clutch disc. Most cars have the bigger spline. The fine spline disc has 23 splines. I believe the other disc is 10 spline. Its a major difference between the two splines and even though you didn't count the splines before maybe you can recall what it looked like. Hope this helps.

I just sold one of these. Fits 1958-59 Ford six cylinder 3 speed. It's a 9-1/2" x 23 spline disc. Not sure but I may have a few more. They've been impossible to find at the usual clutch suppliers. They go for $119.00 plus a $20 core charge. The pressure plate is not a problem (we have those for sure).
