So...only have driven my ranchwagon once (when I drove it home from buying it), and going from 1st to 2nd was a mess. Thought it was the linkage but found out that the 2 ears on the shifter itself were jammed (stuck) in the same position. You should be able to pull up on the shifter and move the ears independently, but they dont. Its like the keyway/rod mechanism is stuck??? Ive got mine out of the car now along with a replacement from a 59 truck. My question is: Should I try tearing apart the one from the car, and how??? Or just switch it with the 59 ford truck one? I cant find any info on rebuilding/ taking apart this particular year/years of shifters???
