I say low-and-go. How about black paint where it is now white? That would toughen it up a bit.

And I disagree with someone about shaving the rear door handles...I always think that makes it look like the owner wishes he had a two door but could get one. Nothing wrong with a four door! You're already 8 billion times cooler with that car than everybody else in your town...two or four door doesn't matter.

And on more thing: the coolest thing to do with that car is DRIVE IT!

    (1) Slam it. (2) Lake pipes. (3) Tube grille (squarish Canadian grille is better but you probably can't find one). (4) flipper caps, like Olds Fiesta (but NOT the checkerboard fiestas). (5) Dual pipes with pencil tips. (6) pinstripes. (7) Leave the wide whites alone. (8) Hula girl or dice optional. (9) Drive it like you stole it.

I like that design a lot. 59 fords look good lowered. They have a long bodyline. They look real slick. I would not mind owning one my self.

Does the van spring trick work on '59 'birds as well? Mine is low, but not low enough.

Nice caps, I still have the same ones from my old '56 Super Clipper. That car would have made a nice custom... iconic tail lights.

    Love your work. Nice!

    Later,

    Mike

you guys have to keep in mind the "high quality" road surfaces we have down here..... too low in the back and that back bumper is toast. not that it was all that great before i sold it to him, but at least it is fairly straight!
i'm glad to see you're enjoying it!

My buddy has one. Looks real good. I agree, lower it. How about some cruiser skirts, shave a little trim and your good. The tube grills are kool, but I think they don't work well with this year, 57 much better. Bellflowers look good also, but only if your going with a 60's look with Astros.

Yep, dave was nice enough to drive it to the ferry for me... but he forgot to tell me it had a blown head gasket.
