I am helping a good friend fix a noisy throwout bearing on a 59' Ford F100 truck that he just bought. It's a Y-block column shift truck. When we pulled the trans the throwout bearing was "loose" on the shift fork. It was only held onto the shift fork by 1 clip instead of 2. My friend couldn't find a "factory" clutch with the same pressure plate bolt pattern so he had the 10.5" one that he took out and had it rebuilt. He acquired another shift fork and throwout bearing but they ended up being the same ones he already has. He acquired a LMC catalog and they show only a 11" and 12" option for a clutch for the year/motor for his truck. My question is what make & model did Ford use a 10.5" clutch behind a Y-block. I have a suspicion that the shift fork is longer/shorter to let the throwout bearing's center to be concentric to the clutch unlike what he has now which is making the throwout bearing become partially unclipped to make everything lined up.
