hi can someone please tell me how to remove and replace t5he lock cylinder from the ignition switch on a 59 ford thanks
If my memory is correct, there is also a small hole in the front of the cylinder that you insert a paper-clip or other wire into in order to remove the cylinder from the switch. But...it's been a long time since I did one of those!
The twist deal gets the whole ignition out of the dash. To get the cylinder out you need the key so you can rotate the cylinder and push the tab or button that locks it in. Its been a while for me too.. If you get the whole monty out, you can go to a key place and have one made. Around here its around 10 bucks.
The lock cyl. has to come out before the switch bezel can be removed from the switch ,quarter turn twist. To remove the cylinder insert a stiff wire in small hole in the face of it. with key in turn CCW towards acc posision, when it passes the acc point pull straight out. No key you are SOL, you have to destroy the front of the cylinder enough so the bezzle will pass over it.
