59 Sub-Panel project found......kinda O.T.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by choprods, Jan 5, 2004.

  1. Well I finally bought[for 650 dollars] a project I had been looking for for a few months...[now if I can really get any work done on it!] -thats another story!its a 59 chevy Panel....soon to be "windowed" down the side -ala- suburban. I want to lower it drastically and chop the top-3-4" maybe even 'cap" the roof skin some too.Frame clip and hi speed rear swap on mostly orig frame. My plan is for a two year build time to make a "replacement family driver"[sort of a HAMBER's version of an S.U.V [IMG]]out of this....I had no Idea how hard the "Sub's" are to find at a decent price! We have a 2000 Alero- that will be mostly worn out by that time -[and I'll be Damned] if I'll buy a new car at that time!. My main reson for this post is that a while back someone posted a pic of a chopped sub of this vintage[I believe in primer] -I would like to see some pics of built Sub's[55-59 only] please.....anyone help me here? Thanks......

Me and No7a were photochoppin subs up last spring but came to the conclusion that anything worth havin around here was equally too expensive. There's a*****load of tops and glass available in local yards here tho!

That's about what mine looked like when I got it. Spent about 4 years of spare time on it and have been driving it for about 12 years. My vote (not that I have one [IMG]) is keep it as a panel. My kids spent a lot of time growing up in the back of mine and they still grew up fairly normal [IMG]

When I was first really wanting to get an old vehicle project years ago, I wanted nothing more than an Advance Design panel. They were all too expensive and far away, though.

3 years later I still wish I had been able to get one...the aftermarket for those trucks is a MILLION times better than the aftermarket for any Chrysler product. Ohwell [IMG]

  8. No the one I saw here was chopped [about3]and slammed with 18 or so wheels....[only traditional] [IMG]-I tried to get that one from Drew- but I lost out to a falcon wagon trade......called the guy who has it now and it was too hi for me....like your panel with flames [new guy]- but Im done with panels....[old man with vision loss!] Kinda hung on which frt clip to install -the 59 with quad lights or the 56 with single-7's-I have em both......

  9. I think the one your talkin bout is kustombuicks bosses burb. Its purple primer, chopped with 18"directionals on it.I lost it on my ol'computer.Boones has pics of it.......Shiny

  11. Which HAMBer wanted to put a 56 Caddy front clip on one of those? I thought that was a novel idea.....
