Technical 5th Gen Suburban ('60-'66) - Buyers Guide

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SuperDuperDoughnut, Mar 4, 2022.

  1. The hard part about the 1/4 panel replacement is the wrap around where the tail light is (and fuel door), the rest you can trim a pickup to fit. Get the stud welder from Harbor Freight and save the 1/4. The "Custom" trim for panels and Suburbans where the 6 piece side trim (2 small pieces on the door and 1 long piece on the 1/4 with "custom" stamped in it), aluminum grille and the trim around the windshield (different windshield gasket). I forgot to mention that the fuel tank and sender are special to the panel/suburbans.

I think I only have the tail light lens and housings left....maybe a filler neck.

Weatherstripping is fairly cheap for the p/u stuff (front doors and windshield), I believe the barn doors are only available at Steele Rubber (at least when I had mine) and was around $100 and I know the side window rubber is around but I don't know cost. Also when I had mine the body mounts weren't around and I used later truck mounts (there is like 10 or so).
