Yeah, its a really cool car.

    Built long time ago...

Here's mine. In Montana you need fenders to keep the cowshit and gravel off the car.

Its not easy making the decision for up or down. Heres a couple shots of on top of rails and dropped down for comparison purposes. In the rough with no frills. I feel they can be made to look the best on top of the rails. With all the hard work done of putting it on top of the frame I say go that way. Not too many 5w's out there with radiused trunk corners.........wink.wink. Steve

    Mike,
If you email me at alex@paulrussell, I'll send you pics of my car.
The file's too big to post on the forum.
    Regards,
    Alex

  8. This car would be perfect if it was 4" to 5" higher in the back.

  10. this chop shown is not the "beauty chop" defined in robert williams new book...
he states the beauty chop is a legal chop so you can still run in the stock classes at the lakes ... different than the dollar chop too.

i like the lowest one albiet its hard to see out of at speed:D

  11. Hey Kevin lee, I believe that blue car with black spokes belongs to a friend of mine in Sweden. The front axle is a '32 that has been dropped 6". Real neat car, and Haken (Hoken) is cool as pie. I have a recent mag. write-up on it from Sweden. PM me if you would like to give him a call.

Actually, the headlights need to come up a bit, and personally, I would lose the red wheels and grille. Definitely an awesome car.

Your 32-5winder has the kind of look that would make me walk past a bunch of high buck easter egg street rods, to get a good look at your HOT ROD! :)

The rolling bones car is great 'cept for one thing----------------------------It's not in MY shop---- all it needs is a set gold plated true spokes, narrow whites and a chain steering wheel---- come on John, I dare you!

  19. Mike finished puting his coupe together [with Pontiac power, of course!] and he nailed the stance......the car was featured a few months ago in one of the prominent magazines..I think it was Street Rodder.

  21. Not the best picture but here's the stance of my as yet unfinished 32 with an early 50s styled build - stock 32 frame, unsplit bones, dropped axle, open drive banjo, 36 bells and shortened 36 rear radius rods. I believe the tire sizes are 7.50s out back with 6.00s in front.

Originally I wanted to set up my '32 with a rolling bones type front end or Bull Dog front but now after looking and pouring over pictures I think I might just go with a traditional drop axle and such because I like the proportions of keeping the stock wheel base.

I love the way undropped axles look and that's why the Bull dog front end appealed to me so much but since I have my Ionia frame and it's pretty much ready to go I think that I am going sacrifice the undropped axle look for a shorter wheel base which is really important to me.

I'll be running 7.50 out back and 6.00 or 5.50's up front with a 4" drop axle and reversed eyes. Out back I might run a '40 ford rear with the center flattened.

    Love this thread!!!

my cross members are both in the same place. the wheel base is about 2" longer there is room to get the axle between the shell and cross member. with a little work

109.5" wheel base on the bones cars right? I would just have to lob off the frame horns and weld the spring perch to the wishbone sides right?

I really could go either way really. The Bull Dog style looks great and very purposeful but then again, I love the look of the shorter wheels base and 107 on '32's looks pretty perfect. Choices......luckily I 5 years to devote to the body that I have to figure all this out!

The DD has the spring out front....but not a traditional suicide...JeffyJames..My frame was kicked out to 109..after that(imho) the frames start to look funky...

On my 5 winda I want a trad. dropped axle and front horns....Its starting to be a fun project..

    ....Wonderful thread...from da dead....
