I wanted you to go this time! I'm thinking we'll do it for sure again in 5 years for the 50th anniversary if not before!

It was nice meeting you! Frank is a great guy and his roadster has a great story. It is comical that he drives 800 miles to a 130 mile reliability run :D

Ha ha, no kidding! I would like to make it out to Hawaii sometime this fall. But after seeing El Jefe's post I wanna take my hot rod!

I never said that but Matt did a few times! I thought of you and knew you'd be as crazy as us to do this with a flattie!

Having a top was a life saver from the sun! With the back window out it was a nice and shady with a good breeze. The top folded down is hard to see over and a little flappy at highway speeds. Plus it looks so good with the top up anyhow! Don't worry, it's completely off again :D

I was sad about missing Bowling Green and the debut of Hollish Coupe but this trip did help take my mind off of it! ;) :D

Ha ha, my thoughts exactly! I can't wait for the next person to tell me a Flathead is unreliable!

It was fun being your photographer and your wife! Jake is really a nice guy. I'm glad you finally got to have that pic signed after all those years! I'd love to drive down for the show from Reno with you guys sometime, we'll have to work on that!

Steve is golden! I'm so glad we ran into each other!

Save up for gas, that was our biggest expense. The tent camping ran us $20 a night or so and the cold cuts and PB & J were cheap. Life is short- don't wait!

Thanks for the help! The previous owner was George Kirk, he lived in Santa Monica somewhere, not sure on an address. The car was purchased from him in 1959. We've been told that he raced it at the dry lakes. I'd love to find out for sure! The car was red with a purple and white interior-- yes, I said white with purple inserts! It had the same hood top as now (pretty unique louver pattern) and hood sides as well. It had no top though.

I went with new black sandals. They didn't have any Chucks that I didn't already have :D

Don't leave us hanging at Bravo Burger...only the BEST breakfast burritos west of the Mississippi!!

  9. Thanks for the pics and story, Vegas must have been terrible weather wise. I've introduced people to In & Out before, "It's not fast food it's In&Out", many have converted.:D Now I'm gonna have to come up with an old piece of iron to cruise long distance in.

  17. Megan ... great thread! ... thanks for taking the time to post the story & pics of your (& Matt's) adventure ... really looking forward to part 2.

  18. I was a bit surprised to see the three Bertone-Alfa Romeo B.A.T.s (Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnicas) on display at The Auto Collections @ the Imperial Palace ... maybe it's just me ... but I'd say these and all of the other one-of-a-kind automobiles really deserve to be displayed in a museum with better lighting than a single row of overhead florescent tubes.

  19. Need more pics of that blue '32 RPU being assembled at So-Cal.

  20. Meghan, I enjoyed the trip, thanks. I love your attitude and respect for the older hotrodders.

I'm having a picture party and plan to make hamburgers as close to In and Out's as possible! :D

The Hoover Dam is awesome! Everytime I see it I'm equally as impressed as the first.

I'll have you know Cleopatra's 2nd toe was longer than the first and she ruled a country! :D

I would never leave you hanging! Check out Part 2 here:

Now THAT'S a cruise!!! Awesome pics and a great story. An experience you will never forget I'm sure.

  30. So how many countries do you rule if they're all long! LOL. I'm teasing, they're sexy. Much better than short stubby ones!:D (sheesh, I sound like I have a foot fetish or something. I don't!)

Thanks again for the good stories.
