I have run 6 94s on an open plenum manifold with the center two carbs as primarys and the other 4 as secondarys with progressive linkage. Now I am doing a 401 buick with st400 trans, I have a choice of a single 4, 2x4, or an offenhauser 6x2 log style manifold, I can get my 6 holleys and linkage back, so I am seriously considering this route. Anybody have experience with 6 94s on logs?

  2. I run six 94's on my 371" Olds. I like them. I've run a best of 6.99 et 1/8 th mi. I suppose I could go quicker with a single 4 bbl. ,but six 94's is just way cooler.

  3. I had 6 94's on my stock '59 Vette. I'm positive it would have gone faster with anything else but the cool factor won out. It was an Offy manifold and I once heard a guy remark that that Vette had an Offy engine in it. Way cool!

  4. 550 what do you have the 371 in?

BTTT, I imagine the olds is a log manifold, are you running the carbs progressivly ?

  7. Yes it's a log manifold. My 371" is in a 34' Ford coupe and I run progressive linkage.

Thanks 550, how many of the carbs are running power valves? and how do you feel it works for everyday use? Are you using an auto trans or a stick? I ran my 276 desoto with an open plenum design and drove it lots for ten years. The buick 401 will be in a 49 merc wwith an st400.

This was mine, I built the manifold using an edlebrock 6x2 manifold but I need something low to fit under the merc hood and have located an offenhauser log style manifold.

  10. Right now this is just a nostalgia drag car. I run no power valves. Idle circuits are closed off in end carbs so all they do is dump when you nail it. Also to help it idle better I had the idle bleed tubes drilled to .030" and one.070" hole drilled in each throttle blade in the two center carbs. Tranny is a turbo 350 using a Ross Racing adapter bellhousing.

im running a 6x2 log intake in a 37 ford truck with a 276 desoto hemi with a 700r4 trans, quick change 3:50 final gear. ive tried running 2, 4 and all 6 94 running and the best combo was running the outboard 4 carbs with the center 2 blocked off, on straight linkage. im running stock size jets and power valves. iv tried several variations if jets and power valves, i even tried blocking off the power valves and the motor would fall on its face during hard throttle.
my motor is a little cold hearted and needs to heat up a bit before going anywhere. i glass bead the plugs once in a while, running a tad rich, but it runs sweet and looks cool as hell going down the road.

Thanks old grease, when I ran the 6 twos on the desoto, I used all six with the two centers as primarys and the center carbs had the power valves, 6 was definatly a lot of carb for a small inch engine but when I behaved I could get close to twenty mpg. Were you using an auto or standard trans?

hey desotot, im using a 700r4 it seems to be a nice combo. i also get very good mpg on the highway (65-70) guess 18mpg. im running a 3:50 final gear and have the converter lockup wired .

I have 6 x 94's on a Weiand Drag Star log intake on my 394 Olds, I tried all 6 but it just drank fuel and was way too fat, I now run 2 centres as my primaries with power valves and the outside 4 as just throttle bodys, no power valves and the idle circuits plugged, I'm using a progressive linkage but mpg not great around 15-18

    Thanks oldgrease,
Thanks langy, nice rod , thats the same way I had my carbs set up with an open plenum, guess I'll do a repeat if it works on your logs.
