Who here runs 6's? What type? size? mods?

I run Plymouth flatheads, with hot reground cams, multiple carbs, hot coil/dual point, and a EdmundsCustom finned aluminum head.

No, it's not mine, it showed up at our show last year, a huffed slant 6. I'm running a dual carbed and Fentoned 235 in my '54 Chevy. I've got no pictures of it. Tell Pete that I'm gonna kick his ass next year.

I love it, I've got a kabillion miles on it, it's been one of the best engines I've ever had. The mighty Stovebolt....it'll run for years with 60 lbs of compression and 5 psi oil pressure.

what kind of carbs are you using? I'm looking at going multi carb but I'm not exactly a millionaire. I'm just starting out on my imp and want to get some more power out of the 6 bad, i'm gonna be taking trips from oceanside to Fresno through the grapevine.

Plain old dime a dozen Rochesters, you've gotta build 'em identically, there's a lot of variations in the carbs.

Moose, that is my slant six with the blower on it. Now working on a 66 Valiant gasser with a slant six and turbo.
Nads, we'll be headed back down I4 to Orlando in about three weeks, hopefully not freezing our ass's off!

Brutha, that is one BREATIN sick banger!

My '54 came widda 223 sicks, and i Almost have all the pieces i need to do a nice mid-mild buildup on it.

3x1 offy topped by holley 1904's
2x3 clifford headers (thanks to Rockabillyjoe)
    Barker Hi-Lift's
    Elgin timing set

    future machine shop plans include:

deck and gently port the head
    .030 bore
    "blessed" reground cam

And the "somewhere over the rainbow" dream is a 262 crank-n-rodz

i think it'll push my fat ass down the street hella better than when i got ahold of it

Forgot to include the Pertronix ignitor i tossed in the dist.

Funny, I just posted this on another thread but I'll dup it here too I guess.
I'm running 3 mechanical progressive Carter/Weber's on my 235, Split exhaust, HEI, and a hotter cam.

My carbs came from Langdon's Stovebolt he has all the parts to make it work and the best price I could find anywhere on those carbs.

Howdy REJ, can't wait to see you fellas.

KC MOngo, that's a sick, sick engine, I love it.

BTW, we did a little experiment with a slant six in shop class years ago. We put one on an engine stand, took the oil pan off and ran the bitch full throttle. It lasted 20 minutes before it blew up.

  18. This is a crappy photo, but since Nads brought up a destructing slant six, here's mine. One of the rods let go of the crankshaft. It still went for a mile or so before it poked through the block and said "hello!"

This is the beast that did it. The new leaning tower of power has been going for about a year. It's a beautiful ugly engine for a beautiful ugly truck.

This weekend I'll finish putting together mine:

    '64 230 punched out to a 257
    Offy 3x1 with rochesters
    headers
    hot cam
Paint and striping done by me. Not professional quality paint, but damn it was fun!

    Hey Moose,

I think we traded email a while ago, I remember your stuff. Looks like you found a finned head, cool.

Here's the plymouth 6 post from a while ago, a bunch of pics of my 230.

    plymouth six thread

Also in the process of updating my website, one bit at a time. Click the link below.

Hey, Nads- on the other post you mentioned the trouble you had synching up your dual carb set-up- how'd you finally do it, progressive?
Other question: are the only cams available regrounds and for you guys running them, how's your performance before/after? I'm thinking my longest gear is second, so what's my ratio?(235 '62 Chevy)

oooooooh! where did you find that??!!!

I'm working on a 261 for my 48, once I scrounge up some dough, it will be bored and stroked to 290 with a full race 235 848 head, cam, vintage Mallory dual point, split exhaust and a 2x1 Tattersfield intake... but a supercharger would be even better!

oh yeah, and my '50 Chevy has a stock '55 235 in it

    REJ,

I love that blown 6! Do you have any more pic's?

I may have to ask moose to build me a blower manifold and headers for my 235 if this kind of inspiration continues!
