How does a 6-pack/ 6-deuce set up work? I looked in the search and typed in 6-pack, and 6-deuce set up but it didnt help me
6 packs were a Mopar 3x2 barrel set-up. Not trying to be an ***hole but if you spell DEUCE wrong (in your case DUCE), you won't get much info either.
I bought the setup in post #4 from Tommy. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123739&&showall=1 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129864&highlight=multi+carb
The system uses a conventional center carb that runs all of the time and twin "outer" cars that are vacuum controlled. At least they open by vacuum. There is a mechanical linkage that pulls them closed when the center carb closes.
Do you mean "6 pack" as in three two barrel carbs, or "6 deuce" as in six two barrel carbs? By the way, never refer to the tripower on a Pontiac owner's car as a 6 pack or he'll hit you.
l ike this ne that is what i wanna know how it works (its the 1 my dad has) ** "6 pack" as in three two barrel carbs** is what i ment
All right, that's a SIX 2bbl setup. They were either set up progressively, running off the center carb on each side until the throttle was nailed, or some were set up to run all six carbs in unison. In order for it to work correctly, you need a healthy cam, heads, headers, and a fair amount of carb tuning knowledge and patience.
So it is all in sequence with eachother, like all the engine block, and the healthy cam, heads, headers, ect? they all run together obviously, but it would be bad to slap one on a engine that is stock, (like a 350) Also what does it mean then the throttle was nailed?
The actual intake in your photo is sitting in my garage, I bought it from HAMBer Tommy. It fits a small-block Chevy, which would include the 350. And you are right, it wouldn't work very well on a stock one. Also what does it mean then the throttle was nailed? That means, you put the accellerator pedal to the floor!
Awww i c, i was thinking it would be something that is done to the intake man. i wasnt thinking like that -.-
Allrightie... The 6 deuce setup was developed mid/late 50's in an effort to improve volumetric efficieny of OHV V8's. At the time, they were referred to as 'log' manifolds, as each side of the manifold resembled a log. They were (I suspect) an evolution of the type of manifold which was often installed on OHV inline Sixes, which had three carbs mounted on a common plenum - or log, depending on your vocabulary. these are generally considered drag-only manifolds, as the combined flow rating of a log manifold with Stombergs mounted will exceed 1000 CFM - and a stock Chevy 350 will only pull about 400 CFM - more or less. Lemmetellya - if you hang that monster log manifold on a stocker, it won't run worth dog snot. unless... Guys running them on the street on mild motors commonly block off the corner four carbs and run only a pair of deuces - one for each cylinder bank. combined airflow is close to target, and driveability is maintained while having the 'look' of a full-race vintage drag motor.
Littleman runs all six, and he does drag race it, but also drives it. It CAN be done, and I'm damn sure gonna try. Gonna have headwork and a rowdy cam.
That clears some of it up, with time i will understand it all........hopefully. I might (if my dad lets me) be abel to build a '29 ford, theres a picture of him standing next to it: already chopped about 12 inches (i think)
