Ive converted to 12 volt but would like to use my factory gauges on my 50 chevy 3600. Is it true that im fine to use my temp and oil pressure (as they are mechanical) but will have to either switch out or decrease my voltage for my other gauges?

Yes, mechanical gauges will work as they always have, although you'll want to change the light bulbs. Ammeter will be OK as well, but you will need a voltage reducer for the fuel gauge. I make my own, but my background is electronics and electrical engineering, so it's pretty much against my religion to buy anything that I can build.

Here's what a lot of folks use:

  5. I used the Runtz when I did mine. No complaints so far.
