I'm having trouble figuring out how to access the hidden LH/RH upper trim screw holes for install of the rear window trim in my '61 Falcon sedan. Tape marks show the location of the screw holes on the hidden flanges. I pre-installed the rubber and trim on the gl*** before roping it in but darn if I can figure out how to get the screws in there.

    Any tips?

Is there any room between the gasket and trim? My guess is that you could put the screws into the holes before it all goes in. Then get a small philips screwdriver in to sock 'em down.

    I don't know, it's pretty tight.

Someone has to know. Do you have the body and trim manual? Sometimes they show you the magic trick.

I didn't have the manual until you asked:D I found it at fordmanuals.com. Thanks for the suggestion.
It says to install the trim on rubber, gl***, rope the whole thing in and then install screws last. I'll have to keep rootin' around the rubber to figure it out.

Don't think I ever encountered retaining screws in those locations on a roundbody. Damn near impossible to move the gasket and trim sufficiently once it's in place to get a screw and a screwdriver point in there. Without breaking the gl***, anyway. That flange should be as smooth as humanly possible to avoid just that, since the gasket is supposed to seal tight against it.

Yep, I had to pull the window back out so here's the trim holes. You can see the matching holes in the roof and pillar. I wonder if I could get away with leaving them out. Rear Window Trim.jpg

Never seen holes to do that; I'd have been terrified of breaking the gl***. Did you install the roll bars or were they done by a PO? Maybe the screws were added in the thinking they would keep the gl*** from getting pulled out

Car was bone-stock before I tore it down. The old rubber chipped away and allowed access to the screws for removal. The manual mentions that some had these screws.
