Pepper Eastman was killed at Fonda but not in the 181. He was driving the 72 for Zimmerman on a one off pick up ride and rolled it in the third turn.

  7. That pic is at Lebanon Valley. I think I mentioned this "Goofy" looking Maverick body creation here one before. Built in reverse ground effects.

Even years ago, I could never figure this one out.

I know! That's why I posted it. I thought it was a Camaro. But, you're right...it sure is goofy looking.

As much as we reminisce about the good old days and how great the cars were; there were some truly butt ugly cars built back then.

I "THINK" Eddie Partridge (aka Cecil Palmtree) restored it &/or had it restored.

  12. The #5 car is built, last time I saw it was at Riverhead back in August or Sept., the car had a mock motor in it and wasn't running just yet.

Ted Renshaw is building another replica of one of his cars. Ted was popular and successful on both dirt and asphalt ovals in the Western New York-Southern Ontario region (Ransomville, Merrittville, Lancaster, Holland, Humberstone, to name a few). He started in the '50s and raced right up into the '90s.

This is Ted in 1971 at Lancaster with his '36 Chevy coach. He replicated this car in its yellow/Don Adler theme from '69.

This is Ted's latest project: his '37 Ford flathead coupe. I'll post more pictures as I receive them.

    Obituary: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/star-gazette/obituary.aspx?n=bryan-h-osgood&pid=137635467

Bryan Osgood passed away Dec. 19, 2009, at age 77, after a lengthy illness. He won Lancaster (NY) Speedway's longest race, the 1971 Amalie Pro 350. He is pictured here in 1972. The Elmira, N.Y., driver always was known for his beautiful cars. May he rest in peace.

    Hi Sanderson ..

I just saw your posting from awhile back.

I both worked for and was good friends with your Grandfathers partner in many promotion ventures .. the late Tom Galan (Galenos actually). They promoted many different tracks together & we both part of the founding of NASCAR (stockholders I believe).

Tom told many WONDERFUL stories of their "adventures" together as partners.

I met your Grandfather on numerous occasions .. at Tom's house here on Long Island, at Waterford and other places.

At Tom's wake your Grandfather told everyone that the reason he & Tom went into promoting auto races was to sell hot dogs!!!! (Large profit margin at the concession stands.)

I'll drop you an eMail as well.

Again .. Mike DeRoma or better known as Mike Dee in the modified that Hank Kleban (of Bilstien shocks) built. A lot of foward thinking stuff in this car. Hank was quite an engineer when it came to racing. He also built the midget with the lay down Iron Duke Pontiac engine that Flemington (NJ) promoter Paul Kuhl owned & Stan Ploski drove. That same midget was later owned by John Ellis & driven by Mike Dee's good friend Sonny Sanders.

Mike Dee was better known for driving midgets with the ARDC (American Racing Drivers Club) and the SMRC (Super Midget Racing Club).

  18. Didn't know what car. Who was the other driver that got killed there the same year?

Wow, talk about a suicidal track, the one with the poles on the inside and outside, nice pictures.

Pete Fiandaca with the coffee can air cleaner. Most of his cars looked like crap, but ran pretty decent.
