Uh, hope I'm not going in the wrong direction - does anybody have more pictures of this type of car? They're usually flat wrapped body with a seemingly infinite variation of shapes. The idea of being able to make an accepted "type" of car without having to find an old body or do the hero metal shaping thing appeals to me:

Donnie Allison at possibly the old West Palm Beach Speedway when they ran early supermodifieds. Go here to see more Florida racing.

These type of cars were also run up in New England NESMRA association and in central PA (called "bugs") before they evolved in to sprint cars.

There will be a Big Memorial Race for Lou Lazzaro on May 154, 2010. You can find out many more details from the Dirt Track Digest website. Look for the Lou Lazzaro Memorial thread and read the whole thing. Last I know there were almost 100 comments. I know that they have raised lap money for the 44 laps (Louie's Car # 4). They are raising $4,444..44 to pay to the winner. Fonda Management is paying their normal purse out but are bumping fist place money of $2200.00 to second place, second place money to third place, etc. Starting 26 cars last I knew and Lew Boyd of Coastal181.com is donating the winner trophy.

    Check DTD.:)

I know! You found that picture on Facebook, I'm sure! That was our mini-Islip Speedway 25 year reunion at the site of the speedway (the cookie factory). The Halpins were there as well as Ted Baxter and a few others. Even my Brother found time to show up. We had a few "milks" and shared some photos and stories. The Halpin boys are a riot and TBAX is one of a kind!

Midway through the '72 season, Thort Haag (Niagara Falls, NY) took over the reins of Mel Aube's orange No. 3 coupe from Darrel Claus.

That coupe sure does look like the ex-Bill Whitney sportsman coupe that ran at Middletown, NY in '74. A sportsman feature winner. The #10 was red and white and may have been a Buzzie Reutimann built car.
