The body positioning and hood look real good! I'm pretty busy but will try in the next week before I go on vacation to do a little Photoshop coloring.

So jpf711 goes from "just curious" to "not a big deal" (although still likes the site) to carrying the torch for Phil Hoyt, Howie Hodge & others (did they ask that he do that in their behalf??). How 'bout letting us all enjoy the postings of Bullfather & many others on this site without worrying about who get's the credit for 30+ year old photos that are in the public domain anyway? You've had 3 posts in 9 months & this is all you can focus on? Try looking at the total # of pictures / pages since 8/31/09 and you'll get a small idea of how many people enjoy... no LOVE this site! Please don't be a wet blanket and scare people into not posting pics. Once the original pic gets sold, unless you still have the original, it's pretty hard to know who took the pic once they've been posted on this site or that. So, if people aren't trying to re-sell them & just sharing a bit of history with other race fans....why do you care? Lighten up, please, and let us all (continue to) enjoy the postings!

I think I can help in this matter. I have had some of my work stolen for websites as well, with no compensation or credit. Why does it matter? Because it's mine and it fucking pisses me off, that's why. (NOTE - nothing of mine is on this thread; I'm not fortunate enough to live in Modified country.) An article that I wrote for Speedway Illustrated back in '04 got posted to a website, no credit, no contact. The guy also scanned David Allio's pictures from the article and posted them, too. Taking pictures of races, producing quality photos and written work...that's not free. It represents real effort and real work on the part of the people who do it, and the very least you can do is to credit those people. It looks to me like jpf711 started off very nice, got a little more irritated, and now because he's being ignored, is starting to get pissed. I don't blame him.

Unfortunately, in the world of today's Innerweb, everybody thinks this shit comes for free because everybody who can figure out how to start a blog is now some sort of a "journalist." This is a great thread, and I enjoy it too. Doesn't mean we shouldn't respect those people who spent their money to travel to the races, bought expensive cameras and film, and in the cases of race photographers, put themselves in the line of danger in order to create these pictures that we're all ooohing and aaaahing over.

What always gets me is when folks put their name on old photos they didn't take, and then claim they are part of their "collection". That being said, it's really nice to see these historic shots. ( I have a scrapbook of old photos, and have no idea where most of them came from, I'll try and post some if nobody shoots me)

Here's a few old Danbury photos, I think taken by the track photographer, don't know for sure, as they were given to me. #5 is Nicky Lucas, #9 is Don Moon, and the wreck is Freddy Foshay, who I think also paved the track. Some one correct me if he didn't.

  15. I'm not sure about others, but I put my pics online knowing that anybody can, and should enjoy them. simple solution... if you don't want others to share, or enjoy your photo's, keep them in your album. that being said, anyone who would take your photo and sell it is just lower than whale shit.
Just my 2 cents... I could be wrong.

I will not get into a pissing contest with shamrock, I do enjoy the site and looking at the old shots, just think that if it's not yours, give the proper credit...... I post pictures on my face book page that i shot and they end up here, again give credit, I have over 10,000 pictures and when I post anything on my face book page I give photo credit and my personal collection..... Howie & Phil are big boys and can take care of themselves.....They don't need to have me fight their battles, if they even have one......just do the right thing......

I don't mind people posting any of mine or my families shots, the thing that got me pissed was when some lowlife did the old right click and printed the pictures and tried to sell them on egay as his or supposedly bought from someone on the other site for stolen stuff craigslist, thanks to a fellow viewer of this thread who informed me of what he was doing, I contacted him and got him to take them down. Like Al Consoli, I feel the same way "thou shall not steal and sell on e bay" and if you post any of the shots I've posted,if I get credit for the shots fine,If I dont Oh well, just dont STEAL them and sell the on Ebay or craigslist!!!!!!!!

Does anybody remember who drove the #100 Mustang modified in 1969-1971 at Islip Speedway.?It had a white roof, red sides, yellow numbers and was gorgeous.

Hopefully, I won't get attacked for posting more pictures....Most of them were cut out of old racing papers, programs, and magazines or purchased at the Calinoff's Novelty shop (and successors) at Islip Speedway--not sure who the photographers actually were for specific shots, although a few of the local photographers over the years were Ed Appoldt, B & G Wurthemann, Brian Chollerton, Bob Hess, and some Oakley dude (I believe that is actually Rich for RetroRidesbyRich). I also bought some photos from a Fred Smith that advertised in one of the racing papers. I put the scrapbooks together when I was between the ages of 5 and 18.

Some All Star Racing League Shots (photographers unknown to me except when noted):

Its amazing cry babies can even manage to take the fun out of something that is just supposed to be entertaining for everybody. Be glad anyone is even interested in reading or looking at your old crap.

No problem here JBull..... Use any and all that you find. Marty Himes has/had all of my negatives from 1977 and '78. Unfortunately they were all lost in the fire he had back a few years ago so any that I see here of mine are a treat.

Oh, and you're right "that Oakley dude" is RetroRidesbyRich

I like this quote from Kholm65 the best:

That being said I DO understand the feelings of others like Mr. Consoli. Copying others work and selling them as your own is just plain wrong!! Personally, if someone stole my stuff I'd be flattered :p

But for folks that do quality work like many of those above, well that's just outright stealing and wrong.
