The extended forecast for Sunday, the 12th (right now on Friday evening) for the Warren, NJ area and the show there that Ken Brenn is such a big part of is 60% chance of rain.

    http://www.warrennjcarshow.org

Of course we've all seen forecast like that, on the day in question and not seen a drop of rain, yet other times it has poured.

If you planning on going &/or bringing a car, it might be a good thing to follow both the National Weather Service forecast and Doppler Radar for that area, here on the Internet.

If the weather on Sunday is still questionable, Ken Brenn has given me his cell phone number, for those on their way to call. .. I'm not going to openly publish it here, but if you're going and feel that you might need it .. either PM (Private Message) me &/or eMail me at ken_schou@verizon.net and I'll give it to you.

Ken (Brenn) plans to be at the show site, early Sunday morning.

Does anyone have the full field rundown of the 1970 and 1971 All Star 100's at Islip? I'm pretty sure Jerry Cook won in 1971.

CFL7171 you gave me a good idea.
I would also like to ask our members for the results for the early Syracuse races say until 1980.
I would also be very indedted to anyone who has the results for the Race of Champions when they ran Trenton and the Pocono big track.
Of course any year is welcome, but those were the events I attended.
    Thanks in advance.

In post #6631 standing by the left rear of the #17 is Rene Charland (face partially blocked by girls head), Maynard Forette in the engineers cap, and to Rene's right is Don Wayman. Jay Broderick, the owner of the Jay-Lin Special, was the man behind the scenes with Rene for many years

Nick Calabretta (Buffalo, NY), 1953, Buffalo War Memorial Stadium (a.k.a. Civic Stadium). The Calabretta family lived in the Bailey-Delavan neighborhood of Buffalo's East Side (near us). Car was sponsored by East Delavan Auto Service. Photos courtesy Calabretta family collection.

    Thanks.
Capt. History, I would be happy with aany additional lists for Trenton even without the laps complete, or even a link to the info.

That is really neat,,Didn't know they had a contest back then
Not that I could match the "craftsmanship" these guys did
Wonder if they made the models after any particular car/driver they might have followed

cdnmodman; Thanx for the links. I checked the Race of Champion's link and noted a mistake. It listed the 1961 winner as Freddy Adam. 1961 was actually won by Bobby Malzahn. I am pretty sure he was in the Harold Cope #1. He also won the very first modified race run later in October at the Reading Fairgrounds. Bobby is one of the drivers I became pretty good friends with during the early/mid 1970's.

I also thought I'd post a few Malzahn photos from my collection...Most I took, one I bought....Most from Reading between 67 and 72 and the primered Pinto was from 5 Mile Point (Schaeffer show) in 76. The blury fireball coupe was from Nazareth in 72.

I don't think Lou Lazzaro ever owned a fullface helmet,or wore one.
    Thats Les Alberti driving probably.

  27. Yep, thats him. When we were in HS early 70's we started a HO slot car modified/sportsman mail-in series of national races. We were in Car Model Magazine a couple issues back then. Good times...

Wow, 'Car Model' magazine and slot car racing....brings back a lot of memories from my early days, probably around '62-'67. I had dozens of the 'Car Model' magazines, and built MANY model cars. Wild paint jobs (candies and metalflakes) were my specialty.

I also had several slot tracks over the years. An Aurora HO set, a Gilbert (think American Flyer trains) 1/32 scale set, and two 1/24 sets one an AMT Turnpike and the other an Atlas (again think electric trains). I think I still have one of the Ideal 'slotless' HO sets in the basement. Despite having the tracks at home, I was primarily a 'slot rat' at the local slot car stores that were in the Rochester, NY area, around '65-'67.

Anybody remember Oscar Koveleski and 'Smitty', from Auto World, and their 'JC Whitney style' catalog of model cars and model car building supplies? I've occasionally gotten nostalgic, and wondered whatever happened to them. Remember when AMT model kits were $1.49? I was in one of these big hobby supply/craft supply mega stores recently, and saw some re-issues of the kits I built in the early 60s....the same kits are $16-18 dollars now! Talk about getting a 'payback' on all of your old molds and tools....
