  1. That car was built in Martinsville,Va. and owned by a guy in Rocky Mt..Thing had opening doors('35 Chevy so it had suicides), roll down windows,a/c! Awesome car.
Hey 07son, are they going to build the blue coach or the orange one? I've got several pics of them I will post. I'll have to get Harold and go by there.

  4. Project Update

The '36 is up and running.

Here's pics I took yesterday. It's at my shop now to get the front and rear bumpers fabricated. Plan is to use stainless steel tubing and then polish them.

The headlights are in the trunk. Power windows, quick-change w/a locker, Richmond T-10 4-speed.

Plan by the owner is to have it at the Daytona Turkey Rod Run.

We went for a cruise. The ride, handling, power and driveability is awesome. The inside is as nice as the outside.

I'll have some other pics later.

  16. Pete, you make your old man proud. I can't get enough of the Old Modifieds and Sportsman cars of the late 40s-50s. I never tier of seeing them. Reminds me of when I was like that kid in the yellowed photo in #6973 when Grandpa would take me now and then.

I remember when Joe Carbinetto build a modified, he was one of the guys that hung out at the New Yorker Diner where I hung out with all the older guys. He wanted me to join his pit crew, I was 15 at the time and he had sharp 60 vette with Hilborne injection. His father owned the auto parts and speed equipment shop so he would get all the goodies.

The modified was a coupe, I believe it was a 36 Chevy with a 390 Caddy in it and tri-power.
This was in 1965 and he was going to run Islip, I don't know if he was going to run Freeport and or Riverhead.

He said, go ask your Dad first, that's how things were done then, everyone knew everyone. So I said, Ok Joe, will do. Dad said, No son, I don't want you hanging around the track and getting too close to the racing crowd. He knew of the after racing parties and all. Didn't mind we handing with the hot rodders, i had already build my first one.

Well, i don't know how long Joe's career lasted because his car burned up like the 3rd time he raced it? It sat outside this fathers shop for God, I don't know how many years, and then it disappeared.

Does anyone here recall a Joe Carbinetto of the mid 60s?

    Thanks for the memories buddy.

The story on Richie Evans black #61 is that the car was not painted black. It was primer.
