Just wondering... why do so many of the recent post look just like stockers / jalopies / sportsman cars and not modifieds? Gary

Just got some old pics from my step sister of her fathers sportsman modified the 37 ford coupe #J2 Yblock with three deuces from Ct. and also some older pics of the J1 three windw coupe . I need to learn how to transfer pic to posts . The car ran at Trenton,Norwood Mass, Waterford Ct, Thompson Ct. Plainville Ct also tracks with the Eastern Bandits/ Allstar team . Which included Eddie Flemke,Rene Charland and Red Foote driver of the J2 ford . They were in the March 1966 Auto Topics Magazine with a five page artical on there season which I have a copies of . I recently made a full bio type folder for my sister from pics and articals that I found on the internet with a dvd that I found of her father building his 33/34 ford coupe which I gave to her on Mothers day . She said to me and our Mother that this is the best gift I ever got in my life . I spent 10 hours just in one day just to find some info never mind a whole folder full of info including the driver Red Foote who drove Rocky Hinton's #84 Ford in many Grand National races in the early 60s . Im asking Bullfather to see if he could dig out some pics that we never seen .

  11. if you have the photos scanned try photobucket.com and upload your photos and then select them and hit the generate button to get the HTML for the message board and cut and paste and we have photos! I have tons of photos from all over saved, but they are alphabetical right now so I don't know which photos are which, some don't have any info and some have names of drivers if you noticed.

  20. McBetts built the 14 Artie Tappen car when he was down in NC, Concord I believe. I'm sure Richie will be around to correct me, LOL.

  21. so far this is reponse, no one knows the car, but still way early!
Don't know the car, but from the nose piece I'd say late 70's early 80's. Realy nice coach. I'd like to see AOK on the side.
    -richie lawrence

richie, if we buy that car we can put an A-OK on the side of it. looks good...
    -vicki curtis

I don't have a shot of the AOK sedan but here's one of the sedan, I'll see if anyone has more info on that one too. :O)

Thanks. They are 10" Hoosier slicks on 15" wide 5 wheels. This car will be raced weekly next year in the "SK" Modified division.

ModifiedDriver, Your cars are awesome. The coach body worked out real nice with the way the cages are set back on these.

Bull Father, That would be great. I can send you some pictures, or you can come and take some yourself. But I will be stripping the car down soon to have the frame straightened or possibly a new front clip put on. Let me know what you want to do.

  23. think we might have your man, I have to contact one or two more people :O)

I found a 1991 photo of Johnny Bush in a car that color with the gold nose (looks like the same car), but for some reason the photo I have the car has big/different numbers. All the other cars were blue and the numbers are like your photos, definitely the type #s Johnny Used. I'd post a picture, but the photo part of TCH is down.--
    -howie hodge

I have more info and I'll let you know more.

  24. If I'm not mistaken, Johnny usually ran the #69 going back to his Figure 8 days and his customized 57 Chevy. His Mom used to race at Freeport. I haven't seen Johnny run in decades but his cars were always blue when I knew him back in the early eighties.

  25. So, is this in response to my request for info on that #68 Troyer car?

If so, WOW, quick action  .

  26. yes it is

Hey Emil and Pete, AKA The Chrome HAMB... The Troyer car paint scheme rings a bell, it way have been a Redding car or a Bush car, but I can't say for certain.

One night at Islip, (I think it was '83 or 84) Johnny was on his way to his only Mod win, when he was dumped by Bobby Park. Park had to pit for a quick repair and Johnny's mom yanked the ingition wires from Park's engine when they removed the hood! God, I miss that place.

Hey Modifieddriver - the sedan looks great ! So does your coupe. Here's a mod that my buddy Billy Valitzski did on a Troyer chassis and I painted.

  30. Now that's nice!!!!!!!!!:cool::cool:. I like that a whole bunch.

Gremlins weren't my favorite body style back then, but they sure did provide the most billboard space!! A lot of folks cut quarter windows through that body panel.

Here's a pic of my last modified before I moved south in '77. This pic is taken at Weedsport in the spring of '77. I made the trip back up north to race. The logistics were almost impossible, so I quit.

When I enlarged the pic I could see the Syracuse safety inspection sticker on the hood from the previous October. I missed the big race in '76. Think I finished 6th or 7th in the non-qualifiers race. The first 3 moved on to the 100 mile feature. I had fun watching the BIG race with my buddies in the infield drinkin' beer ;) . So, out of 125+ cars entered that weekend, I missed the race by 3 or 4 positions. I felt pretty good at what I accomplished and went home unashamed.
