  1. Ugly = Fast!

But I don't care for Indy car or Champ cars nor Formular 1, etc.

  2. Rich I've been really worried about my father lately, he just doesn't seem like the same man I grew up knowing. First there was this car that I always knew he liked.
But it seems like the past few years his taste in hot rods has really gone over board on the emtreme!
I thought it couldn't get worse, but he sent me a photo of his dream car, this kustom. I think he's losing it! Rich you got to help a brother out! It's bad!
I guess you get the point, but to hammer it home one more time, this is he's daily driver!!!

Red Fox is turning over in his grave!

love ya pops! now let's get back to modifieds!

  3. Son, you will pay for this!

    Old Bridge[/QUOTE]

Old Bridge was long gone by then, New Egypt Speedway, that's Wally Dallenbach Jr in the 35, yes that Wally Dallencbach Jr - he was terrible in the modified; he hit everything but the ambulance!.

I know the gentleman that has the real modified that the model is built after. It is actually the "Hemi Cuda II". I will dig up the resto pics. Until then...

This is the Hemi Cuda II. You can tell from the square tube, blue chassis. John Grady photo

This is the original Hemi Cuda with the early 50's Chevy frame. Love the injectors! John Grady photos

  18. Rich I just went by what the photo script was at the time when I photobucket'd it. is that a term??? might be a new one! It is new eygpt, I have some mods from the 80's but the bodies were when they were in transition of the 70's into the troyer era modifieds we see today! I'll try to keep most of them before then, I have so many but a lot of gremlins, pintos and vegas ran into the 80's, even some coupes here and there!

The first late model body for the time at Thompson was a 66 Cuda fast back on a Chrysler chassis run for a short time by Elery Bates he ran torsion bar chassis under most of his modifieds even the old coupes

  20. weds photos I'm going through the batch and right now the ealry 80's is up but most are car that were transition phase and had been used in the late 70's also had bodies of the same era before the J-style.

Brain Ross, I heard a story this weekend, maybe Rich or someone can back it up? Brain Ross retired from modifieds because they were too fast and not safe for the drivers at the speeds they were carrying with the equipment they had...

Greg Sacks right before he headed for the big time and took it by storm by winning in Daytona in what some call a fluke win, but still a win is a win and it put his name on the map. Too bad personal demons kept him from advancing his career. He was also used as an extra for Days of Thunder and some material of his career was used as a premise of the movie. One time he had an accident and his helmet rolled down pit lane during practice, Rick Hendrick was too afraid to look to because he thought Greg's head was still inside of it.

Jimmy Spencer...yes that Jimmy Spencer, I know it's a later modified but wanted to show people who don't know, Jimmy was truly "Mr. Excitement" and gained his name during his modified days!

I gotta say it... I am not a fan of pintos , but they make one of the best looking modifieds!
Judging by all the different ones, there must not be a stock pinto left in the northeast!
