I remember the 400 for sure, I did win it no question in my mind. I remember talking to Eddie on the track right after they gave the win to him, I was shocked and to be honest I think he was too....but you know what...sometimes life ain't fair and you just have to suck it up and move on. Eddie was a friend and a good role model for me (I was just a kid) he taught me and helped me learn how to drive a race car before that night and after that night also so I figured I owed him, it wasn't his fault it was a scoring mix up. I never held it against him but I know I won that night.

On another note I'm sorry to here about Sue.

Ha Ha I had forgotten about the green paint.

Love to see a picture of your Micro Sprint.

Some may say that pintos and vegas and gremlins and cavaliers raced in the 1980's do not count as traditional mods.

And some can say that other people just don't get it! Please honor the Bullfather's request!

  5. Yes, some might say that unless they are traditional for them and not for many of us here who are in our 40-70 year age bracket. Bullfather is 35 years old and I brought him to the tracks before he could walk. Coupes were running then but that was about the time of the transition from coupes & coaches to the so called, Pinto Revolution. I consider them traditional and I am 60 years old.
When the Troyer chassis came out that was the end of my affair with modifieds, I only went to the track once in a while. But my family and I lived through the Pinto Revolution and that was Trad enough for us. Such picky people. 469 pages and you come in and say some people wouldn't consider 80's traditional. So what? John who started this thread hasn't complained.
BTW, the older the modified the more I like them. Now those are traditional.

I agree with Randomrodder....people need to lighten up & just enjoy this thread & all it's content. The thread is entitled...."60'-70's Vintage Oval Track Modifieds". I don't see anything in that saying that the pics have to be coupes, coaches (although I love them!) or more "traditional". Much as I hated to see the old bodies disappear, the Pintos, Vegas, Corvairs, etc. were certainly part of the 70s era. I've posted in the past some pics of my own "Vintage" Modified project. Fact of the matter is, the only thing Vintage on it is the 36 Chevy coupe body, but a few seemed to enjoy the pics just the same. Let's all relax & continue to enjoy this site instead of spending too much time trying to figure out what belongs & what doesn't. I'd hate to see anyone scared off for fear they might accidently post something that isn't strictly to category. I say the Moderator (whoever that is) should be the only one making any judgement calls. Sorry for the rant, but I enjoy this site too much to see something bad happen to it.

I like all the pics,, but this is not our house,,their house their rules,,, I am just the messanger,,, I am sad that they closed the historic stock car thread,,but they can and they did...again their house their rules,,,, so unless you wan to be in trouble like we were,,,read this post by the powers that rule,,,

"" The cut off date for the HAMB is about mid '60s in year and buildstyle, so that includes this Thread. ""

GOINGG BY THAT RULE,,,PINTOS, GREMLINS, CAVALIERS, ARE A NO NO,,BUT MODS'S WITH BODYS FROM FORD FALCONS AND CHEVY II'S ARE OK. JUST TRYING TO KEEP YOU GUYS OUT OF HOT WATER.

"Metalshapes", perhaps you will lay down some specific parameters for this particular thread and posters will know exactly when they are "out of order".
    </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
The parameters on this Thread are the same as any Thread on the HAMB.

The content needs to be Relevant and On Topic.

The cut off date for the HAMB is about mid '60s in year and buildstyle, so that includes this Thread.

So now please, stop the discussion about this on this Thread.

Move the discussion to the Questions & Suggestions Forum of the HAMB that is specifically there for that.

And get this Thread back to a pics Thread.

There has to be plenty of early Stock Car stuff out there to keep this Thread alive...

The above statement may be true to an extent, but what about threads that deal with contemporary fuel dragsters, modern nostalgia dragsters , funny cars or LSR racing? They skirt the HAMB parameters too and yet don't seem to fall victim to the BS. So if a few later era modified pics are on this thread, so what? Their roots lie with the modifieds of the fifties so they are still relevant in my opinion. I think the parameters are mainly to keep the billet style rods off the site and we don't discuss modern 'Cup racing here either, nor political topics; there are other boards for that.

The thread is doing just fine, so just leave it alone.

<HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #e5e5e5; COLOR: #e5e5e5" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->First off all, I'm dissapointed that nobody started a Thread about this in this Forum ( the Q & S Forum ) when that Thread was still open, because that could have prevented it from being Closed.

I asked for it many times.

    About it being Off Topic.

The HAMB is a Site for Traditional Hot Rods and Traditional Customs.

Stock Cars themselfs are not Off Topic, but the Cut Off date on the HAMB is mid 60s.
Acctually, its 1964 and earlyer, but because we let things slide more on the Main Board than what is possible in the Classifieds I usually just say mid '60s.

That cut off date can be flexible for really rare cool and unusual stuff, but when a Thread gets filled with stuff that misses the mark by more than a decade its time to do something about it.

All we ask for is a little respect for the Site you are on, and to me, that doesnt seem like a lot to ask...

Hopefully, Users who are posting on other Pics Threads are paying attention too.

    Metalshapes,
Are you the Moderator of this thread? Not trying to be cute, just would like to know who the Moderator is.

  12. Thank you Rich!!!!:) This thread was moving just fine until two members decided to post here. I know tons of people in the N.E. that visit this thread daily and still have have people that come to me and tell me they come here.

I'm done saying anything, this should only be about the drivers and their machines!!!

our unnderstanding is he along with others moderate all the threads,,,,AND IF THEY SAY MID 1960'S THEY MEAN IT,,, or your thread will get shut down, like they shut down our thread on historic stock cars.

do not ask questions or plead your case... just post mid 1960's stuff and older,,,or he can shut you down,, with no appeal.

We the posters and lurkers from the historic stock car thread do not want you guys closed down,,,We wish we knew how strict they were,,, now it is too late for us.

I have to agree that this is one of the best threads on the HAMB with 1,663,669 hits. I would say the haters need to buzz off and not make a stink. This thread is one of the reasons I come to this site. Old pictures are really hard to come by as I searched for some for years and all of a sudden here they are here on the HAMB.

Many cars built in the early sixties continued to race well into the seventies, with minor modifications. Some also were rebodied with Pintos and Vegas, but were essentially 60's modifieds. Leave it alone...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  19. Almost 4 years worth of post 4-11-2007, amazing guys!!! Thanks John56h for starting this thread, you are the man! 30 pages away from 500 pages, 1,664,009 views so far! One of the many reasons hot rodders and racers come every day to view. Thank you!

Carbon dating tests have confirmed this photo was taken prior to 1964.

Hey Bullfather, I don't care what anyone says. Just keep posting what you can. I don't know where you find them but it's awesome to be able to see some of these old rides on here. I have alot of real old stuff but it's all in newspaper articles & old family photograghs from the 50's - 70's & I have no way of scanning them to put on here. Keep up the GREAT work Thank you.

  24. Throughout the life of this great thread we have never had a problem with any moderators. I am sure they were and are aware of this thread considering the number of hits it gets. We stayed to ourselves and didn't go overboard. I don't know what went down, or at least I didn't know, at the other thread but to bring it over here was unnecessary. I'm not sure how much of The Bullfather we will be seeing post around here from now on. Personally, I come to the HAMB to view this thread and the, Those were The Days thread. No "Drama" here, just the way it was/is.
