I believe it was Evie Pierce in the 309 and Dick Stebbins in the 201 at Danbury in 1954.

The beautiful "Double Diamond" sedan sponsored by Smith and Sons Jewelers and driven by Jim Luke. These pictures were taken at Riverside Park with the famous Thunderbolt roller coaster in the background.

A couple more from the Eastern States Exposition. Buddy Krebs, Jerry Humiston, and Dick Dixon. All these photos are originals given to me by a friend who was very active in modified racing in the 50's and 60's. Most have never been previously posted on any site. Hope you enjoy them.

I think the owner of this coupe was a man named Mazza and I think it was built by Freddy Rosner but not positive. Not sure what track this was taken at.

I would love to see some shots of Smokey Stover's #306. He ran at Eastside Speedway in Waynesboro, Virginia back in the 50s & 60s as well as other nearby tracks.. damn near unbeatable!
    Anyone?

RAF, Buddy Krebs in the Dollar Sign, Gordon Ross's 19 driven that day by Jerry Humiston but mostly driven by Jocko, Dick Dixon's 8 ball. You are correct about Johnny Lobo, I think the 101 may have been Ralph Bohem. The kid in the 17 is familiar but I can't remember his name, and yes those were all Eastern States. The picture of the 19 built by Freddy Rosner (I'm guessing here) I think the track is Thompson, however could also be Malta or one of the up state NY tracks. Keep em coming this is like a test for my weak memory. Denny Z

    .

In the first picture the 101 was Ralph Boehm of Simsbury Ct in front of Johnny Lobo. 53 is unknown to me. These cars and drivers were running in 1959 at Riverside Park when I first started attending races:). Been 52 years for me now:p

This photo may be from Albany Saratoga Speedway in the early 60's. I have seen Kenny Shoemaker with a checkered flag at that speedway in his book "They Called Me the Shoe":)
