Looking at picture 1198, Al Michalchuk on his roof, this was at Flemington, the cause, a broken bolt holding the front trailer bar( torsion bar ). The 11 car, was Lee McBride in Tony Klemchek's car. This was in the sportsman division.

Picture 1199, Bob Pickel's hauler and stock car. The #300 is restored and attends many vintage shows, the hauler still is around, but not on the road.

Bob Pickel is still around and doing well.

  6. If they restored the #300 they have to restore the Caddy, not many of those built. I know my pops telling me before Tex Smith did a write up or two on haulers like that! It may not look pretty but is kinda cool in a dare to be different kinda way!

re: photo 1201, The Skinner 659, thats the guy who made the Skinner heads for GMC's. A.J.Tone runs/ran one at Bonneville in a real neat 32 Bantam recently, and Walt Smith, from here in Ct. has one on his current Nascar tour modified. Walt also crewed for Mr. Tone. (Hope I got his name right) These guys are hot stuff, in their 80's,and still out there.

Turkey Derby famous Vinnie Green wreck, this day Charlie Jarzombek was sitting in the x3 of Tony Ferrante (I don't think Jim Hendrickson was racing the x3, I believe he may have retired by then), Tom Baldwin was driving Charlie's #1, the 09 is Jamie Toamaino

..."The Bug" appears to be a 30-31 Model A. The coupe in the photo appears to be a Chevy coupe. I'd say they were different cars. Keep all the great photos coming!!!!

Interesting car from 1965 at West Haven, CT. Speedway. Driver unknown.
Around 1965 the V8's came into vogue and were to become faster than the A-class coupes.

Typical Non-Ford sportsman coupe that ruled West Haven Speedway until track closed in 1966. Flying '0' (former 'Fire Ball' 4) driven by Tommy Sutcliffe

Nice stuff! And I thought his name was George Broomhandle. ;)

At least that's what I remember hearing some folks in the stands call him. :D

  29. Well he took his broom handle and made the famous Brunnhoelzl jacks used in Nascar and about every race track going lol. Well his son did George Jr., III is racing on the southern tour and took down his first win at Laner Speedway, Ga. Ed Brunnhoelzl Sr. whose photo we've seen early and his son Ed Jr. raced as does Eddie III, who also took down his first Riverhead Raceway Modified win the same night his cousin took down the Laner Lake win!!!

    ok photos.....
