Hey Pete, love the Islip pit entrance/exit images, spent a lot time there as a young boy watching them come in or going out. In fact, I'm surpised I'm not in some of those shots.

Supposedly, those two cars are still around...in similar condition (yikes, those pictures are 25 years old!). Their location is top secret though. The guy I know, who knows where they are has beeen working on the owner to get that 37 for many years.

You still have this sedan Frank?

  22. I sure do. Thought of using it as a race car body have disappeared. Because the doors are steel framed, it'll eventually be a modified for the street with opening doors.

Remember the #3 red and white Wayne Reutiman coach? Like that.

These 3 pics are from my late father's flathead stockcar days in the '50s. The #20 is from '56 on the beach in Daytona. Dad's driver was Buzz Wilson with sponsorship from Roy Richwine, promotor of Williams Grove.
Hilly Rife, original owner/promotor of Lincoln Speedway. Hilly hung oh to win this race! I don't recall details on the #30.

Frankie - why would you make that coach into a racecar? Looks like a kool rockin' rodd with bagged suspension on the rear (v. traditional); just your style! vic

Lee Thompson had a small sporting goods store across the street from my father's woodworking shop in Thornwood late 50's to early 60's. Knew him pretty good, never knew him to be involved in racing, but hunters got around then, and he had a following of them. Think most of the locals ran with SNYRA, if they could, 'cause Danbury was the closest, and paid better than anywhere, but I know a few guys went to Middletown, and elsewhere. Looks like a pretty nice car for the time. Our local sign painter was named Pappe, knew him too, doesn't look like his work, also don't know any Larrys, which would lead me to guess this car ran out of the area where it was found....now watch someone who remembers the car prove me wrong...Neat to see it.

  27. John and Frank, it's good to see you guys posting here again. I'm really enjoying the interacting in the last half a dozen posts or so.

Frank, was Johnny Bush of any help to you with your modified?
