There was a Speedway in Peekskill, NY for while at the Peekskill municipal stadium which was nothing more than a baseball diamond. The track was a 1/5 mile asphalt and was operated by Eno VanDam who also promoted Middletown and Rhinebeck at the time. Not sure when it opened, but it was replaced by a new A&P market in 1959.

  5. Oakley, I've got a question for you. Do you know if Jack Reinhard ever lost a daughter or niece back in the mid 60s?

Oh ya I got that one . The more I dug up on Red the more I found, even a video of the first 33-ish cut down J-2 being built which is real rare . Red's career started in 1948 in Kinston RI with many Modified wins as well as a couple track championships . He also drove Nascar with the big boys in 1962,63 and 65 . He moved down to the Va. area and raced into the early 80's , Thats 4 decades . I have no info on him after 1965-66 or any pics other than the common ones one the internet . There must be racing pictures with other famous modified drivers . I have the Norwood arena pics . Where did the car go after the 66 season ? not the car in the pic . The blue and white 37 ford . I would build it if I could find it .

Do you know R.A.Silvia or Ric Mariscal, both from the Pronyne Motosports museum in R.I.? They know everything worth knowing about old time New England racing, if I were more computer literate I'd send a link, however they are easy enough to find thru the NEAR or STAR websites. That old video is a hoot, hambers would love it posted if you could...

  17. Vic,

I'm servin' ya' an eviction notice ;) . Kiss your security deposit Bye Bye :) . GD smart ass  .

You are cruel to me. A bagged coach  . You want me to get assasinated??? .

The coach was slated as a retro fit on a Troyer DIRT mod. Then TUDOR paid me a visit and told to rat rod it. Then Mike and I get involved doin' that '36 Chevy coupe modified for the street.

We both decided that there are a shit pot full of coupes out there and it would make a great unique body for an old Modified for the street.

So, that's the plan, but we don't know when it can happen. I have damn near every part needed in stock to do it.

I'd do this one similar to the coupe, but use coil-overs on the rear with an under slung frame. Leaf rear springs would stick way out past the tail of the sheet metal.

I have a pic here of an old coach Wayne Reutimann ran. I'll try to find it and post it here. That's what I'd like to replicate.

AND ............. Merry Christmas ya' mother yada!!!

  18. I have the Bush info filed, but I haven't called him yet. It's on my to-do list, along with ............, you know the deal :) .

I need to spend less time here and more working on stuff  .

  20. I saw her name under the pic and wondered if there was a relation.

Saw your PM. I like gettin' mail :) .

  21. You are a lonely guy aren't you? :D

Yes, that's her. Johnny was real proud of her accomplishments. I never saw her run myself, a bit before my time and Freeport wasn't my track. I'd only go there for special events. I did her she was quite the shoe though.

  23. John,

Yep, that's the one I was talking about. I like the looks of this car.

I need to take that picture and draw the stock side window openings back in. I bet it would look better.

There's a similar B&W picture of Wayne, but he's in a #3 '36 Chevy coupe. That's a sharp looking car too. It has a full hood and no exposed headers. I'd like to know how they pulled that one off  .

    Frank,
I like this one that Andy Romano drove too....might even consider turning our 35 Chevy Coach into a replica of this one.

Another shot of Jerry Cook at Daytona, I know both of them are stock cars but Jerry Cook was one of the best modified drivers ever!

Gentlemen, I'm going to be away from my computer for a couple of days and I didn't want to miss the chance to say "Merry Christmas;" I'm praying God's best for all of us in the coming year.
    Blessings,
    PK
