Yeah, Ed's coupe was built by Junior Robertson (Williamsville, NY) -- a GM employee -- and his cars were always beautiful (and he was always trying new things).

Fredeuce: Thanks for the info!! Barefoot Bob Mcreadie went to Austrailia to race Mods back in the late 90's I think it was. So I was always interested in your type of racing. Neal

  11. His son Tim just had a bad crash, believe he broke his back, the vid is online. Barefoot Bob was in a bad accident himself, maybe someone knows more info, I know he was burnt pretty bad.

That would be the Travellin' Man, Pete Fiandaca, in a Rabbit bodied Modified.

This car was owned by Lee and Candy Dolin, aka Shoestring Racing, and ran a Buick V6 engine with a lot of input from the Buick Special Products division. Numerous drivers, including Rod Spaulding, Eddie Bellinger, and even Jimmy Spencer (who finished 2nd in a feature at either Wall or New Egypt, forget which, in this car - WITH A V-6!!!) drove it in addition to Bob. Last I knew it was sold to someone in the Syracuse NY area who has since moved out of the area, so who knows what state it may be in.

That dark green/blue Mustang II in the pic in the upper right corner? Some kid named Jimmy Spencer. Don't know what ever became of him... :D

This was Don's first Modified, a former Richie Evans car. Don was a truly great guy who was taken from us way too early in a wreck at Pocono. His best bud Daryl Lewis drove an SST mod painted like Don's final cars last year at Spencer Speedway outside of Rochester NY in honor of his memory.

Agreed! Ken's a great guy and has always fielded great looking cars - and is still active today in a maroon and yellow Troyer asphalt modified. The middle pic was taken at the now sadly gone Shangri-La Speedway. The white Vega bodied 0 (actually 00) was driven by the late Harry Benjamin.

And it sounded like nothing else with that big honkin' blower on it! :D This car was built by the Turner Bros (who owned Dutch Hoag's legendary #18 Modifieds seen elsewhere in this thread) and was campaigned at Oswego Speedway in the mid 1970s, primarily driven by Gary Reichert.

Now, you want to see a REALLY badass supermodified? Check out the Hemi-Cuda car that Jean-Guy Chartrand drove at Oswego for Ed Cloce:

The cars in the background are (from left to right) Graeme Bolia in the red 331 (Graeme is in the light blue driver's suit), Gordie Isham's maroon 111 Corvair, still on the truck (Gordie was still active recently and is affectionately known as the Flying Fossil), and the Benny Stephens driven 93 humpback coach (Bennie, who drove the Norton 3X cars in the 1970s, is also still around, he worked with my dad at a couple of body shops back in the day; really good guy).

Picture taken at Shangri-La, probably in 1968.
