Bill Bitterman at Lancaster (NY) Speedway, 1972. Originally, this was the Gordie Treichler coach (47) and was sold late in '71 to Phil Edwards (2 Cents). Phil then sold it to Bitterman, who later in the year sold it back to Phil. Gordon Reinig photo.

Originally built for Pete Cordez. Raced in the southern tier of NYS in the late 60's and early 70's. Found in a barnyard near Fonda NY, owned by Steve Brown, and raced in the Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club in previous years. At the time it was blue in color and numbered 68. It was completely restored by Frank Blanchard and is back racing with the Midstate club since about 2003. Obviously, the color and the number has been changed. Most recently it was raced at Zephyrhills, Florida with with the Daytona Antique club in February of 2009.

You beat me to it, Rich! I was just going to straigten him out!
Definately Figure 8s! But, I'll give Pete a break! He's been posting some great pictures for us all. Where did a young guy, like you, get all this stuff, Pete?

Yeah! That's different all right! That's one of Thompsons "run what you brung" events when Modifieds, Super Modifieds and Midgets all competed in one race, like this one...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83Ng2m07klo&NR=1

  20. Thanks Rich! You know I love ya. I recall the day when you asked Irene, Why doesn't Emil Like me? And she said, What do you mean? You said, He never calls me Rich or Richie, always, Oakley and gives me a hard time. (That was in the Magazine office).

Irene responded to you, Oh, that's Emil's way, If he's busting your chops, he likes you, if he's not, that's when you have to watch out. LOL You gave a low, Oooooooooohhhh.

    Friends for life Buddy!

Pete's mom and i started taking Pete to the track before he could even walk. He was in a stroller in the Pits with the likes of Freddie Harbach, Charlie J. Wayne Anderson, Jerry Cook and many more. Though we took time from the roundy rounds for a number of years while I published Golden Chariots Magazine and The East Coast Cruise News and we went to Rod Runs every weekend. Stock car racing from the sound to the smell of burning rubber was instilled in him from his early days at both Islip and Riverhead and a few trips out to Freeport for special events.

I remember watching Pete Cordes (with a S). Always had a very clean dark blue #68.
Me also had a sharp looking coach.-Tom
