Ok took a bit longer to dry out than I had hoped but it's in there. Needs some love to get it right and I think I'm gonna need to do a couple more pie cuts to get the curve right but that's easy enough right....
nice project, i can relate to the rusted areas, it is so consistent i wonder if they specifically engineered it into the cars
It almost seems that way doesn't it. Of course I haven't gotten to the rust in the valances, trunk, rear quarter or the radiator support...
nice job ,what kind welder did u use ! mig or flux or gas //? thanks keepo up with the good work ! later dude
Thanks! I got a cheapo flux from Harbor Freight. I'm on a tight budget so it's getting me buy as I save up for a garage. I've learned to just take my time and it's not as bad as the HF haters make it out.
Garage will be a good improvement. Going to finally fix the floor in your old 54 this year. Carla decided we needed a reliable car when our late models crap out!
Looking good Zeke...!!! Seen the one I picked up...ehr...rather, my son gave me for Christmas...I have a 454" w/nitrous and a built T-400 waiting for it... My floor isn't quite as bad as your altho the driver's window had been left down for quite a few years while the previous owner was "going to restore it." Should put that one in the garage in the next few weeks now that the '60 Pontiac wagon is done and driving... R-
Cool 60 man, I have lusted for those since my buddy Gary bought Monsterflakes 60 a few years ago. Those smokin flat rear fins are hip. Rusted but not busted, you can do it, good luck with that cool rig. ~sololobo~
I hear ya man! My wife was about ready to do terrible things to Gary for that car! Or was that me? Either way, it was badass!
No thanx...but I do have a nice running/driving '60 Pontiac Catalina Safari nine passenger station wagon for sale...it's a nice rust-free ColoRODo car that'd been sitting inside a garage since 1983...good glass all around, good patined body, good interior... R-
Trouble with all those rubber floor post sedans from the sixties is the floors are almost always really bad. All they need is a small rust out from the bottom...then the water wicks itself into the jute padding under the rubber floor and gets trapped (can't evaporate). Then they rust out from the top down.
Well I'm going to be sidelined for a bit with a few medical issues that are gonna put me down for about a month of healing after surgery. The 60 is being put on the back burner for a bit other than parts collection and planning. Haven't felt up to doing anything with it for a bit but the desire is there. Not sure what this year hold for me but I'm not out by a long shot.
Nice ride Roger. Just what you needed, is another project. Trent has been trying to trade that 54 for any 60 chevy he sees..
I will, I promise. Down time will be spent plotting and scheming and looking for a new career more than likely.
Seeing that the VA docs are taking their sweet time making sure they have their ducks in a row before they cut me open. I figured I'd at least remove some of Stewie's Cancer. Today I started stripping the bondo and glass off the drivers side fender so I can finish patching it up That missing bit was nice lil sculpture of 1/2" of bondo on the front backed by fiberglass. Still have to finish stripping the rest off of it but I'll get at that soon. Time to do some studying so I can see if I can get it to look like what it' does in my head and what I need to do to get it there.
