holy SH!T! Thats some dedication to build that! Keep up the good work. My '60 Biz was just like yours, but didn't have as much rust. I was too lazy to fix it and just drove it for a couple years then sold it. Makes me happy that you love your '60 enough to put her back together like that. Do you need some solid fenders and stuff for it? I have a buddy that should still have a lot of good ones.

No dedication I'm just a hack and a dumb one at that. I'm debating if I'm keeping it or it's going to the crusher after I strip it of everything and then look for another later down the road that can get on the road within the next 10 years. Poor health is really limiting anything I can do with it at this time.

  4. Wow, dude, you got some intestinal fortitude. That thing is cool. Get the health issues resolved and get back at it, love the bat wing cars.

Funny you mention intestines cause there lies the problem. I hate to admit it but I do love the car.

  7. Zeke, work throught the health issues, use the car as motivation, you need a carrot on a stick anyway.

The car at this point is a demotivater at best and more than likely will end up as a parts car for another 60 once I am healthy..if and when the VA decides to cut me.

Did a bit of welding today.. I have nothing to lose here so wtf right. Da Tinman made me a couple patches so I did a little trimming here and there to get the top part to fit. It still needs some shaping but meh better than it was.

I tacked the bits together then hit the to be welded areas with a wire brush, then went to town.

Still lots of open areas to be filled so I'm gonna work on that some this week if the rains hold off.

All I had time for today....Senior Prom night for the daughter..sharping the work knives waiting on her date to pick her up.

I had the same problem with my '60, much as I cuss it out, I can't imagine getting rid of it. Basically the whole bottom of mine had to be replaced.

Pretty much the same with mine. Gonna take a long while for me to get it right but I'll get there eventually.

Pulled the valances and P/S fender today.

The passenger side fender is not as bad as the driver's side thankfully.

Good mass of bondo and glass on the front which leads me to believe that area will be like the driver's side. Which means more welding.. I'm gonna get better at this if it kills me, it seems. The wheel opening is more or less solid at least.

And the valances are pretty much just bondo and glass sandwiched over rust. Nothing there is worth the effort to repair and will go into the scrap pile. Even the lenses were shot, very brittle and broke as I attempted to remove them
Not exactly sure why the red wire ground was there either.

Thoughts are make a pattern from the better of the two and then attempt to make new valances later. Turn signal is going behind the grill now, so shouldn't be impossible..just very close to it for me.

Latest bit of bodywork. I think this needs a bit of filler to smooth it out. :p

And I get to do it all over again in the spring. OH joy...

  18. Holy tummy tuck Batman! Hope you're doing well. Sanding after filler is gonna hurt like hell.

glad to see your feeling good enough to joke about it. no need for bondo, the scar will enhance the "hot rod rebel" look. i have one that is very similar and i will look better later on.
have a good Christmas and get well.

Why not, right? I got to spend Thanksgiving at the VA hospital with feast of jello and tomato soup. I'm back to work after month of down time. Still trying to get my strength back after a week in the hospital bed. I sure as hell didn't feel like moving at all those first couple days.

Thankfully I'll be done with all this spring and will be healthy enough to put some serious time into the Biscayne. I'm going to use this time for planning and working up a to do list and maybe knock off some small stuff.

I'm looking at late march early April for the reversal and will be damn glad to see it come.

I feel tons better now than what I did over the last year. :)

Got A clear bill of health for them to reconnect my guts. Hoping to get this out of the way soon so I don't miss much of the summer healing.
