I am so glad you are better. I am a long time 60 Chevy fan and I am looking forward to you getting the car going. I might even be able to help with some parts.

Been watching, Zeke. All the best to you in recovery mode. The car will be good therapy.

Weather cleared up enough to spend a little time on the 60 this weekend. Did a couple small patch welds before the welding helmet crapped out. I spend tomorrow cleaning up welds and rattle canning the unprotected areas from the rain. then see what else I can get done.

Seen at Orange Show Speedway in So-Cal in late December, 2012. The owner said this is a 1960 Biscayne.

If nothing else I got these painted up in satin ivory today. You can see the before and after. the before bit went back in the molasses bath to remove the rust in the areas I can reach easy. I'll get them painted up next week.

The trim looks good. What are you using for paint and primer. How long did you soak in the molasses?

The old paint came right off with a 3M green pad right out off the bath.

I set up a three day weekend and of course it has to rain two of my three days off. Thursday I got the battery tray and bumper jack out of the molasses bath scrubbed up and painted. That freed up some space in the bath for the valances. hoping to see it I can rebuild them or if I'll have to replace them. I also finished painting the rest of the interior trim.

Pulled the gas tank to get it emptied of the varnish, cleaned and repainted. Got it drained and cleaned the the rain starts. I will have to wait until later in the week to get it painted and reinstalled. Hopefully it'll be dry enough to crawl under the damn car before next weekend. I hate trying to work in this damn clay here.

Hmm well the rain has stopped for now. I think I'll get the battery tray put back in, put the alternator back on the 235 and out of my way. Then I'll see what can be done next.

Got the tray in then it started pouring. So I jumped in the car sat on my toolbox behind the wheel, lit a cigar and enjoyed the view from the drivers seat so to speak.

Looks like I'm not going to get much else done before Summer. I go under the knife again on May 8th. Honestly I've been waiting on this one. Once this is over I'll be done with the poopbag and back to normal( as I get at least).

I will miss being about to take a dump without having to stop what I'm doing. That and having a weapon of mass destruction. Venting the farts out a colostomy bag upwind of a crowd can be mighty amusing. More so in a Walmart.

About the same recovery as last time I'm told, 6 weeks Since the VA has to pay me 100% disability until I'm back on my feet since this is service related I'll be in no hurry to get back to work until the VA docs clear me. I'm not going to push it and cause problems for myself. I went back to work too early last time and it took longer for me to recover than it should have.

Take your time Zeke...no hurrying...get well before you tackle the '60 again. Watch for a package containing '60 Chevy parts headed your way...

Thanks Roger. Only thing I'm planning on doing is making a trip to Wayland to hang with the Vagabonds and drink a few beers. Once I can do the little things on my list I'll start there and focus on those things until I'm ready to bigger things.

Well I'm out getting some tires put on the parts hauler and I get a text from the wife saying I got a package from Aurora CO. Goodies from 40StudeDude. I get home and find Miss Queenie has claimed the box as her own and reluctantly gives it up so I can get into it.

Inside I find as Roger promised 1 and 1/2 1960 Chevy Valances!!!! Just like the ones I need to replace.:D Thanks Roger!

While they might look a little worse that what I have they are actually better, These are at least solid steel. The blue ones are a combination of rusty metal, bondo and fiberglass and I wan't looking forward to stripping that from the metal to see what can be saved..

The driver's side is solid if banged up a bit. I think even I can get that hammered out ok.
I'm pretty sure I can cobble the passenger side from bits of the two and some other scrap I have.

For now they are soaking in the molasses bath to ease the removal of rust and paint. I'll get back to these in a couple weeks when I'm able to move about again.

Can't believe you got those already...didn't think FedEx was THAT fast...!!!

It ain't much, but if you can use them it's good...can't imagine how anyone could have torn that one in half...OR why they even kept it. Fortunately for me, when we cleaned the wagon, we found a complete set of fronts and back- in dark blue paint in better shape altho dented...so we'll use those on the '60 Chevy wagon...

It surprised me too. I figured Monday at the earliest. I can definitely use them. The half is way better than the half I have. I can work with it. That's going to save me a bunch of work I think. Much better than slapping more bondo and glass on them which I was considering.
