Going to go look at a 60 LeSabre flattop. Anything I should look for as far as body issues?? would this have a 401?? Other than one pic, I haven't actually got any idea other than the owner's description, which he says is 100% complete, down to the hubcaps. Not running, might be siezed. Are brake and suspension pieces ridiculously expensive?? Alos, what size bolt is on the crank pulley to turn it over with a bar??
LeSabre would be a 364 if it is original. Rust?...Toe boards, area behind front tires (Look in the wheel well), rockers, rear quarters, and be sure to look underneath where the trans tunnel meets the rear axle kick-up. Check the body near the windshield trim as well. Someone who still has a 60 should chime in soon. What state is "Sunnyvale Trailer Park" located in? Where is the car located?
When i had mine, the rockers were gone, lower doorskins, bottoms of fenders, rear lower quarters, and the drip rails under the trim. So pretty much look in all the usual places where water can collect. And like Steve said, should have a 364 with a dynaflow. If youre going to make into a driver, i would swap out the trans for a th400 out of a 64-66 buick with a nailhead. And i would convert over to open drive too with a late model axle.
The car is in Saskatchewan Canada. I went to look at it. Rockers were rusty and some spots on the rear wheelwells. Floor seemed solid. Motor was missing the generator and I couldn't turn it by hand. I think I'll pass on this one. Sunnyvale Trailer Park.....heh heh heh. You gotta be from Canada.
crank pulley bolt is 1 1/8 364 and 401s were available. The intake manifolds are narrower on the 364s.
