Haven’t posted a bunch in awhile-like a year or more. need to get back in the groove of keeping up on here. Little evening drive between the rain showers. Every time we drive it- we are reminded what a great car it is… it just works… Driving this a lot since it runs sssoooo good, I’ve not been wrenching like I should on my other stuff…
your Pontiac needs to be chopped and slammed. I think it is a rule, at least here in California. I know of a few.
This was the first car I haven’t modified… I’ve modified everything we own… LS swapped, blown, chassis work, hot 59AB motors etc etc… All that made me appreciate the kick ass job the Pontiac folks did back in 60 and I love it… it’s like a romantic time capsule… I am replacing the supercharged LSX in my Biscayne with a Big Block because of this car… yeah it’s still a 540 w 720 hp and a carb… but it won’t be a hot running 1200 hp car that I need a millennial to troubleshoot… I’m at the point in life that it’s more fun to drive and show off the way they were… although I disagree with drum brakes on this Pontiac… but that just makes it more challenging lol…. Like stopping a river barge.
The drum brakes on mine will throw you through the windshield if you fart to forcefully. It locks the brakes up just thinking about stopping. My 67 Chrysler Newport was like that too.
Hope you are bringing that "Big Ol' Boat" to Lloydfest III next weekend Denny! God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
"The drum brakes on mine will throw you through the windshield" Faulty Brake booster. Drove (or tried to) a Buick like that. Owner thought I was being critical. No, just educational.
I did put a dual pot master cylinder on that Pontiac… I’m just being lazy and not adjusting them most likely… it likes to head for the ditch… other than that… easy driver…
I had planned on it but couldn’t get the time off. So have a cold one and think of me, stuck at work.
Damn...Sorry to hear that Denny! Hopefully we will see each other sometime soon. God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
Love the 1960 Pontiacs, especially the fully equipped models. My 60 was a cheapie post model that I fitted with lots of Bonneville trim. It was a great car. Wouldn’t blame you if you upgraded to front disc brakes but other than that, I’d leave it alone and enjoy it.
