a good friend on mine passes away 6years ago. Bruno was a lifetime collector of anything and everything but had a special affinity for antique automobiles. In the time I knew him he had two 1934 LaSalle convertibles, a 1934 LaSalle coupe and sedan, two 1940 Lincoln zephyr convertibles, 1950 ford coupe, two 1930 model A’s, two amphicars, and two 1950’s Buick convertibles. He was well known in the collector car community (at least locally) for a Auburn boat tail speedster he restored and the funny looking Cords he would drive around. When Bruno passed his widow took some time to mourn his death but then began the process of selling the cars. Unfortunately she put her faith in men who said they were Bruno’s friends and they took advantage of her. I am now working with her and her son to try and clear out a very large barn full of many things only car guys would find to be treasures. Items in the barn include two 1940 Lincoln v-12 engines in great shape, a Kaiser Darren hard top, a large amount of model a parts and miscellaneous other items . I am attaching pictures of the inside of the barn 3 weeks and three 30 yard dumpsters later. If you see something you may be interested in please pm me. I welcome any help to identify items too. I would think I’ll get a few responses to this so please bear that in mind when waiting for my response. Thank you I will post more pics when I can
It's always sad for me to see there's no younger family member interested in carrying on the collection.
The scumbags that took advantage of your friend's wife should be dealt with with extreme prejudice...
When I read the title I thought of the Knuckle saloon in Sturgis SD. I'm not really sure how big it is, but it is big.
You might try the Kaiser-Darrin guys here....http://forums.aaca.org/forum/81-kaiser-frazer-darrin-henry-j-willys/
I agree. They oughta be punished ( beaten that is, punched repeatedly) Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Is this some kind of Cadillac/Lasalle Military Aviation Coachbuilt? Sargent Stripes...Biplane Style bumpers... This is a perfect example of how history is lost...Two extremes collecting and scrapping. Glad you came on the scene @29AROD...thanks for sharing the opportunity.
Very nice collection, I hope you help his widow get what it's worth. & the collection is not gone to scrappers. . . .
He was a bit of a border too! Boxes of FrieHoffers bread bags, and the end lots of every auction he had ever gone to. You know, the stuff nobody else wants
I didn’t take pictures of the second floor or the rest of the basement where the 34 LaSalle is located. I’ll post some pictures tomorrow
Someone needs to take that "bar" to the jackasses that took advantage of a grieving woman. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Arod, you may want to add “ full of car parts” to your title. Might get a lot more interest in your thread. I almost pasted it up, thinking it was about a barn build. If people here on the HAMB knew it was full of parts and cars, you would have more than 21 hits by now. Just thinking. Bones
I think yours & her best deal would be to get ahold of the people that do estate auctions. You beard will be very long if you are going to try to sell all that by individual pieces.
I believe it is a 1934 Bob...built like a brick you know what... 4 door as crumbling one in my post and below and @29AROD say he had 2 34 Convertibles and a Coupe which are pretty good lookers... http://momentcar.com/lasalle/1934/lasalle-350/
Sorry for the loss of your friend. I hate people that take advantage in situations like this. Good thing that you are stepping in and helping her.
I was at a wake for a model car friend who we lost to cancer. Any hobby always has bottom-feeders attached to it. In the viewing room, people were asking to get first dibs on the guy's model car stash. People can be real pieces of shit.
I can’t change the title. If an admin is watching this and could add that to the title I would greatly appreciate it.
I agree, and that will probably happen at some point. But he was known for hiding things of value in boxes and bags with things of low value. I have found many weird valuable items among soaps and hand sanitizer in the barn already. He was also known not to trust banks so we are wondering if he has hidden any money as well. Once I’ve gone through everything and sold our things as we go I will look into auction house to get rid of the rest. But for now I’ll keep showing things and see if anybody is interested and maybe some of you guys can benefit from his years of collecting. It’s also a lot of fun to go through the barn
