It has been recommended that the 605 power steering box is an easy fit in my 50 Olds 88. My question for anyone who has actually done it, is will the stock pitman arm from the 50 fit the 605? I have read that 3 of the 4 mounting bolts fit the existing frame holes. So do you just use 3 bolts or weld a tab on the frame for the 4th? Or do you drill another hole in the frame? Do you need a U joint or will a rag joint work. May go with a tilt column, not sure yet. Thanks Brian

Trying to help some. I put a 605 box on my 59 El Camino. The stock pitman arm was used. I don't recall on the mounting bolts. Rag joint can work if the angle is almost straight. Rag joint do not take much angle well, they're for vibration reduction and not angle compensation.

Not sure how this affects your 50 Olds. But at least a bit of information.

  3. Pitman arm spline is the same as common GM manual boxes. Be advised that they were used on metric g bodies, a**** others. The bottom side of the rag joint would be metric but it could be spliced to std GM stuff.
3 bolt would be plenty enough.
