I know this was a project, an intended show piece from the beginning but the earlier version was really cool looking.

And a beauty it was! A top pick at Timonium the year I took that photo. Is it still around?

    Hello,

Taking a photo of a photo is not as simple as point and shoot, even with digital cameras. If the camera is on a tripod and the photo is completely flat on a neutral surface like a white board or plain background, then a photo of a photo might come out clear, with good colors. Digital cameras are set up to be fast and efficient. Hand held is good, but again, a small tripod takes away anybody’s shakes and mini-movements while shooting.

Even the modern digital cameras have a hard time adjusting to background boards like the wooden one and tend to over expose the original photo. But, with neutral backgrounds and a digital camera on a tripod, photos could come out well.

We learned that with perfectly still 35mm film cameras and fast film, fast lenses, still left room for the tiniest of shakes, breathing and what ever give those small movements no one notices. Except in developing the film later, do those shakes cause trouble.

With phone cameras, there is more room to have those copies with blurs due to how we use phones to capture images. So, if a phone were to be place on one of those cute Gorilla Grip Mini Tripods, there is the certainty that the images won’t be as bad as hand held still photos.

So, with the digital photo programs that most of us use daily, there are ways to help get the image back to somewhat of a clear and concise photograph. But, again, there is only so much digital photo programs can do to make up for blurry images in the first place. YRMV

People must understand that just making any photo larger blurs the image. So, there is a fine line between small clear photos and the same clear photo that becomes blurry when a larger copy is posted. Larger is not always better for clarity.

upload_2021-11-18_6-0-2.png digital photo correction as much as possible…

I took that photo when I was about 12…just glad I took it. I guess it’s good I’m a hot rodder and not a photographer!
