Hot Rods 60s style T-Buckets.

I read that #2 was a chevy in rod and customs a while back, they did a whole spread on it..

You caught me!!

The car is real with no Photoshop whatsoever. It was clipped out of a magazine photo leaving no background so I added one. Sorry I didn't spend enough time to make it perfect. It is a shame that the Photoshop work seems to have overshadowed the car itself.

The car was built in the late eighties when cars like that were out of "fashion" and it's doubtful that there were very many people recognizing its value back then. But the fact is that the car is just as late-fifties period perfect and tasteful as any bucket I have ever seen in any era including 1959.

Photoshop can be your friend.

This Al Ducharme's car from Winnipeg Manitoba the picture was taken in 1967 when we were having the first Canadian Nationals at Keystone Drag strip. It was running a 348 chevy motor.

 

John this is one of the nicest cars in the whole bunch, any way you can post more pictures of this showing the rear, engine and front as it is the most inspiring T I have seen in years no joke ! Thanks for even having this picture this thread was a great idea I will go back to work on my car more inspired as I like your self am looking for new ideas.

No, but it does resemble that. Here it is straight out of the magazine. I did click "blur more" twice in Photoshop to minimize the "moirre" pattern created by the scan and touched up the fold on the front tire and brought back the color.

 

Looks like its got those chrome shields over the top half of the bulb. Mr. Gasket still has them in there catalogs

 

Rear shot of my car. Still waiting for my new radiator so i can mount my chopped 32grille.Im gonna repaint the rear axle and 4-link after the tecnical inspection that we have here in Sweden.

 

The old radiator is extremly ugly an had some kind of homemade brass shell when the car was built in the early 80s.Its gonna look way better with the new 32grille.

Thats the funny thing with t-buckets,everybody thinks they are ugly and they often are BUT you dont need to do that much of rebuilding to get a cool car.

Got my 32 grille on yesterday.

 

Only just joined the H.A.M.B, and picked up this great thread. This brings back one of the reasons why I wanted a Hot Rod. Great pictures. I can only offer, my friends Bucket which was the ex Jeff Becks, and my first Rod, pictures taken back in 1971 to 74 which was inspired by all those 60ts early cars.

I remember that car,..it was featured in an early American Rodder (pre Buckaroo),...very cool T bucket.

 

Saw a sorta-bucket in a old (70's) issue of either Street Rodder or R&C. Don't know exactly when or where the car was built, seems like dude was from the midwest.

Made his own frame and most of the suspension. Heavily channeled, looked like a drastically hacked T-bucket body but might have been DIY also. Car was super-low (like on the ground) at a time when super-low ride heights weren't that popular or even possible unless your car was juiced.

Key Features: Front-mounted, upside-down (?) Corvair motor, maybe with the Corvair manual trans used as an IRS center section. Super-wide wire wheels with indy car rubber. Looked like it may have been influenced by Woods' Ice Truck, who knows.

With all the weirdness (innovation?) built into this one, somebody's gotta at least remember it or hopefully have pics. Car might have won some awards at one or more of the first few street rod nats.
