Hot Rods 60s style T-Buckets.

I think half the T buckets that were built in the early 70's were built off that set of plans. I built my frame in 1973 based on those plans.

Another "Classic" T with a Turtle Deck was Stan Dalton's that was on the cover of Rod and Custom in 69................

john79, i think the trutle deck would be great. where would the tank go tho? thats one wonder i always have with cars built like that, where does the tank and battery go, lol?

A couple of quick notes - If you want to build an early sixties car or see how they went together, you need to dig up Car Craft from NOV.1964 through JULY1965. That is the series that has been referred too a couple of times in this thread. I've had my set since about '76, and they're by far the most worn out mags in my collection! Skunx1964, I believe that car belonged to either Bill or Tom Booth, both founding members of Early Times car club.

Same car, corvair 'T' sold it to Jim White and redid it while I was working at Dan Woods shop with wires, rear wing, brass radiator ??? and custom trailer for shows. Don

 

A little later one. Built in '71.

 

I had an original early 60's t bucket than was in the World of Wheels show cirquete, The chasis is completely chrome plated , the rear end is 57 chevy with early willwood disc brakes , and is also chrome plated, it has a hydro tranny ,hand made front and rear hairpins , a bithchin swoop dragster axel with 18" magnisium tweve spokes. every single piece on the rolling chasis is chrome plated. I sold the body to Marky from the shifters, and the chasis I sold to another friend. I can get the chasis back in a trade, and it has torque thurst d wheels with cheater slicks , but Marky wont sell me back the body. call me if you are interested. 619 573 2637

 

That's the same car. Jim sold it at auction in early 80's and the car came back to Illinois. I bought it in 85 and sold it to a guy in Michigan, about 87. Very nice workmanship Don.

Coupe little things I'd change, but otherwise pretty damn cool!

Man I love this one, this one can't get much better, someone put a lot of time getting everything work together. The proportions are awesome.

You have just leaked the secret to the universe Skipper!!! Honestly that car is so nice that I think anyone that is building a T roadster should copy the wheelbase and such. Perhaps you should patent a kit and sell it to the masses so we can reduce the amount to garbage and increase the amount of awesome in this world.

I was even looking at my own and thinking it was an inch or two too long compared to yours.

This is my first attempt at posting pics, so I hope this works. I've been meaning to scan some stuff and post to this thread for a while. I love old 60's styled hotrods, and late 60's t-buckets made quite an impression on me. I think it's because most of them had a little dragster element to their styling, with the slicks, big exposed engine, and wire or spoke wheels. For me, they lose all appeal without these vintage drag racing styling ques.

 

Here's a few more.





This last one isn't really pure 60's style, but it has a lot of the right elements. It's pretty cool except for rectangle head lights.

 

This one came along later, but it still has some of the 60's styling ques, but takes low to a new level.
