My 55 before any upgrades. Then as an E/Gasser, then as a street car. No longer have it

 

My 57 Chevy. Still have it

 

My 55 handy man wagon used to set low in the rear like the one pictured. I moved the rear springs inward centered under the frame. now it sets a bit higher.

 

Really cool my car was white at one time with a black vinyl top before I had it.

It is a friends car. I will try to get more pictures next time I see him. My 57 210 is in pieces in my shop being redone.

Here's a neat custom '57 I saw at a car show last year, has the same setup, but I'm sure it was done for custom effect and not by the factory, this one was a Belair to start with.

 

And here's an updated pic of my '57 from post #59, now with proper 2 door conversion but a lot more lost paint. The heavily weathered/peeled paint isn't really appropriate for a 60's look although it was applied around that time.



This was some high school kid's hotrod in the 70's (before I was born) and had been repainted multiple times. Although if I ever repaint it, I really like the mild custom look the most and would probably lean more in that direction.

 

Really digging this thread; the old pics are a blast, and the new pics of the old-school stuff make me giddy.
Thought I'd make an account and contribute with some of my own junk. Here's my '56 that's been in the family since the late 50s:


My uncle bought it used off a lot, my dad's cousin then had it, then to my dad, back to his cousin, back to dad and so forth and now I've been messing with it after my dad's passing in 2008. Started out as a 265 3 speed car, then 327/4 speed combos until the early 90's when I "helped" my dad put a 454 and 9 inch in it. He was going to use it to tow a Vega he was working on to the drag strip, so it wasn't anything too wild, but it was a lot of fun getting to cruise around in it from time to time. It currently has a 10.2:1 hydraulic roller 496, 4 speed and 3.70 gears with a Detroit locker.
Had a car full of teenaged girls pull out in front of me in 2017 that demolished the front end so I bought a 4 door for parts that I couldn't bring myself to tear into, so now it's part of the fleet, too.
I'll upload some pics that are actually worth a damn when I can find or take them.
