Love 61-64 BelAir and Biscayne 2 door post cars over Impalas. Roof line looks better and cars much tighter then 2 door Impala hardtops.

Played out? Nope. If I didn't love my 1967 Impala SS so much, I get myself a 1961 Impala or Bel Air. Here is my nephew's 1961 Bel Air we finished up last year. IMG_0440[1].JPG IMG_0441[1].JPG
Oh yeah, I do get razzed about 67 --> being a "lowrider" car, but I don't care. It is stock with rallys w/similar size tires as my nephew's BA.

  3. They still float my boat. We used to pay our bills with early 60s Chevies when we were kids and never ever got to keep one.

  4. I had a '61 Impala 4-door beater back in the day. Ran great no matter what. The problem was the body rot that was everywhere. Most of the x-frame cars in the north-east were riddled with rust. I'd take a nice '61 in any form if the body was decent on it. I still dig a '65 Chevy as well.

  5. LOL I had a '65 Impala hard top more door that was as much fun is as legal. I like the '65 and the '66s real well. That slope back is just sweet.

I still think my favorite of the early Impalas is the '63. I just like the shape of 'em the best.

Love the 65/66 Impala hard tops too. I had an original 66 SS that served as a daily for me during the early 90's. Drove it everywhere, even to Indiana once.
One of the only car's i've ever owned i truly wished i didnt sell.
I can't add much more to the thread than i did before really...i just dont think early Impala's will ever be over done.
Timeless design and proven reliable drivers.
I dig 'em all, but 63's are my personal favorite.
This is one of the many early Impala's i've had/built...

    I just wish I had a '61 and a '64. And a ragtop. And a '58. And a '59. And a '60.

as fate would have it, i learned to drive on dad's '62, owned a '61 and a '64, but i think the '63 was the best looking one of the bunch!

  12. I'd have to count up how many '65-66 Belairs & Impalas that I had along the way. My favorite was the '65 Belair wagon with a stout 327 and M21, 12 bolt rear too. Had it on 8" Vette rims and fat radials, shortened 396 springs up front, handled quite well.

I had a 63 2dr with a 350 and a 4 speed saginaw I bought in my senior year for 1500 bucks. Year was 1987. It was black with a set of Keystone classics on it. Interior was like new with a zebra stripe headliner. That thing would just absolutely smoke the tires off of it and rode very well on the highway. I sold it to finance my first honeymoon. Should of sold her instead....it didnt work out. Fast forward to now and they are out of my price range or that is absolutely what I would have in the garage, but a convertible. 63 Impala will always be my favorite car. Nothing else can compare in my book....but I am really biased on that.

BigDogSS, love your nephews 61. It's amazing how great these 2 door post cars look with just wheels and lowering. The 63 in my avatar has all the original aluminum and stainless trim it came with from the factory.
