Well you boys and girls can look at me and my 64 Pontiac doing a hole shot with street tires. It's a street car but I have a lot of fun with it. I love passing Mustangs. I never had a Mustang out run me yet. I know there is Mustangs that can, but they just havn't got me yet. This was a club you tube thing with some of the members having fun. Take a look @ the KB-12 pickup too. It's mine with the same engine as the 64 Pontiac. (462)Pontiac power. Thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZYQyhBxxQM&feature=related
PS look at wwwVintageIronCarClub for some more Pontiacs hving fun. the 65 GTO had the clutch linkage broke. You can look my 428 on you tube. Just put 428 test stand or look for it on VintageIronCarClub. This is my 462 Pontiac power home made IH pickup http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMYUfHdqNHU Thanks.
The first car that I bought because I loved it was a 63 Catalina. It came with 3 on the tree but it was already converted to a 4 speed. The 389 burnt a valve so I put a 421 Super duty into it. What a pain in the ass that was. Everything on a SD is different from the 389. In the 70s I bought a 64 Catalina convertible just like this one. Same color but not a 421. It was interesting to me that the woman that bought the car new (the grandmother of the person that sold it to me) actually flew to Detroit and drove it home to Maryland from the factory. It had factory bucket seats but it was not a 2+2 and no console. She ordered it that way. I don't know how it was done but you saved the delivery charges. I'd love to find a 61 Catalina 4spd but the prices have passed me by.
Are the mirrors difficult to see when they're on the fenders? Stylisitically, i've always like them there.
Here is my 62 GP. 52K og miles, nice original car. It is time to find a new home. I am the 3rd owner and just hate seeing it sit in the garage and not being used... Anyone?

'62 GP... These are amazing cars. I'm jealous.... My little brother and I just picked up a nice one in Wyoming. I wanted it for myself, but it is his.
My father has a 64 4 speed cat. Nice car and a 64 Safari I gave him for retirement with a 64 GP parts car.
Hey Guys.. I don't have the 61-64 Pontiac car but am planning using a '61 389 in either my 41 Pontiac or my 53 Ford. I have the original slim jim behind my motor but don't really want to use it for all of the bad rep it gets. I did find an adapter that Butler Performance has that will allow you to bolt your starter to the 61-64 motors when using a later trans. Here is the link http://www.jbp-pontiac.com/new_products.html Its down towards the bottom of the page. Its alot cheaper than the full blown adapters. My question is that I wonder if you have to use a flywheel spacer or any other mods. I have yet to buy it and try it or call them and see what they recommend using. Just thought I would give a little bit of help if you wanted to change over the old trans without sacrificing the original motor.
I am in the club. Had a 54 Cheiftain, 64 wagon, my GP, and a few toys through the years. Too many projects that never get done. I had a 70 tempest post with a 350 4bbl 3 speed on the floor, 67 firebird, etc....just a lot of stuff. I havebeen trying to weed out and get down to a reasonable level.... I hear you about the construction industry....drips and drabs. Who knows....Maybe this thing is cheap enough for ya...
This 1962 GP has been sitting in a local impound yard for years. The owner wont sell it, or any parts off of it. I ask about it every time I go there. It has bucket seats, console, 4 speed and 3 deuces on the engine.
Just customer projects right now. Not much of my own right now. Got a few waiting in the wings thought.
Pitts - I got a 455/400 setup in my 64. Its a '70 or '71 motor, so it makes gobs of torque, and it makes this car a blast to drive. My tranny has the kickdown switch on the gas pedal. So far, very reliable. And fun.
Gotta keep this thread alive. Love the ponchos. Heres the 61 done up JR stock style, vinyl decals, cragars, hurst cheaters. Hopefully out this spring.
What a SAD state of affairs......I know people like that...It won't do anyone any good...I guess ownership doesn't bring any virtues with it.....
